Machinist is played a lot at lower ranks because it's much easier to get value when noone bothers it and your Wildfire target just sits in the middle of their team, but in higher ranks it will fold over when focused and people know how to play around Wildfire... and regardless of theoretical damage, a dead mch does no damage.
I don't know where you're claiming to see top players use machinist, because the general consensus I've seen on EU from other top 300 players is it performs significantly worse at this level, and I've only seen mch played by them when few people playing dive jobs are queuing up.

Also besides the (very infrequently available) bind/stun, you've just listed things that are specifically about damage, but not made an actual argument. It's easy to make every job sound broken on paper.
I feel that machinist needs better survivability to be viable at higher level play, and Bioblaster doesn't need to be yet another tool for spewing out damage: rather than applying Heavy in this crowd control heavy meta, I like the damage down effect for Analysis Bioblaster that Valence suggested (which would also mean it couldn't be cleansed).
