    Tank New Role Skills 50 +

    Interceptor - (this class role is unlocked by doing a level 55 quest and final fantasy 6 reference) when use this ability you hear classic final fantasy 6 berking sound from interceptor from that game .

    now for what the ability does

    Interceptor will charge and enemy forces it aggro on you by attaching a leash to the monster where then tank pull force it into melee combat. target then stunned for 3 seconds after use interceptor also deals damage up 280-320 potency

    Flash - Flash -65 Potency Damage per tick , Blind (40% Miss Chance + Slow 20% with 15% chance Paralyze (off global-cooldown) Last 22 Seconds (causes massive amounts if Enmity 60 Hits all targets around you off global cooldown instant cast

    Flash is mostly used at end of wall-to wall pulls for better over all survival. however in actually boss fights where there completely status immune only damage over time effect sticks so only really used in dungeons wall to wall pulling

    But they removed Flash from the game years ago. They wont bring that back. They removed blind affecting skills back in HW and then again in Stormblood when they removed dark passenger and it had a blind effect.

    I think cover in its self is busted but is LD cover not the same thing as holo

    I don't really think we need more role actions, if anything I'd just remove them outright.

    For skills that are needed for a job to function they should get their own flavour, it's already done for stances.

    In practice role actions are a great system to serve as backup to ensure that every job can fulfill the minimum welfare required of its role. It becomes really ironic in retrospect when all the tanks are virtually identical give or take, then what's the actual point of those role actions beyond making everyone even more homogeneous?

    Plus they miss so many (roughly "all") chances to make the role actions a solid foundation that then gets unique-ified per tank.

    Like, so many things individual tanks have could just be trait-effects on shared base skills. Maybe Warrior always deals damage to anybody hitting them if their short CD, medium CD or long CD is up? Maybe Paladin always takes some portion of surrounding people onto themselves with their CDs instead? Maybe Paladins have an interject that also stuns, while Dark Knights have a casted animation that also drains a significant amount of mana from the target onto them? I dunno, stuff! There's so many ways to build unique class skills from shared base skills.

    We had tanks having their own skill variations instead of role actions, we got rid of it, because "balance". Turns out, it isn't as fun if everything feels similar.

    Look how unique each tank is



    The game devs kinda caved in to the raiders at some point, they were whining that their favorite class is "useless" because it underperformed by ~5% dmg output compared to another tank.

    There is also no real aggro management anymore, just put on tank stance and you are good.

    It is so easy to play now.

This doesn't really have anything to do with the point I was making, I agree that tanks are pretty much copy and paste in designs with very slight differences at this point, I've even made this point serval times that I do not like current tank design being more of the same.

    My point is for the case of role actions, theirs actually no point of them existing when tanks already have the same skills with a different visuals such as tank stances, I rather they at least get a different animation at the very least, theirs no point in genuinely having role actions as they are was my only point. Role actions made slightly more sense when you had some options, but as generic actions where you have all of them they are just pointless.

    That being said ultimately I just want to see the jobs more fun in general tanks need more differences in gameplay, I'm not trying to down play that by complaining that I find role actions just a lazy excuse to reuse actions even if it doesn't visually fit a job (like rampart on war/drk feels off). Both can be issues role actions in their current form is pointless, but I'm also 100% on board with making tanks way more unique and in general way more fun.

    I hopefully that clears up my perspective on things, I've played ff14 longer then 2022 I made my forum account then.
