Why i quit FFXIV

I have been playing this game for so many years now, waaay back before Yoshi P took over and made it ARR, so around 15 years give or take, had many wonderful memories but also horrible ones. I have seen the game evolve and develop into what we know it today. Unfortunately, I have made the decision to stop supporting it. The game is very unfriendly for people like me, I tried to endure and tolerate but I honestly just can't and i shouldn't have to feel like this while playing a video game, it's meant to be fun and relaxing but it just feels forced, awkward and unkind. From content being unplayed by the community, to awkward erotic role players, to huge muscle humanoid male tigers wearing a thong and heels. It's too much. The game has become a gateway for unkind people to judge you and report you for no reason just because you don't agree with their disgusting behavior and mentality. And the worst part is the developers agree with this kind of behavior. It's completely unacceptable. This game has become repetitive and boring, every class has a different name yet they work the same way, content has different aesthetics yet you're doing exactly the same thing from previous content (for example the crafting area in foundation, didn't we do the same in crystarium and now in the moon?) same thing different location. The game is trapped in a circle with "new content" being thrown in our face but it's exactly the same, it's a pattern and players are trapped in it. Unfortunately there are not many MMO's out there to scratch the itch so this is what we get unfortunately. You can disagree or agree with me I really don't care. But I'm talking from a personal experience seeing the game fully go downhill from the precious gem it was back in the day, where each class had purpose and unique abilities, to players being so friendly and outgoing and the party finder was thriving with running content and now you open it and it's filled with erotic role players inviting you to do inappropriate things in game, it's disgusting. Heard of a game called second life? How about go there and role play? I'm sad the game is in the condition it is right now, I became a solo player because of the community evolving into the most unfriendly community I have ever encountered. And the game is no fun without friends. I did get the best out of the game and it's the only thing I don't regret. I met my husband in FF 8 years ago and we married and have 2 beautiful sons together. So I walk away with an amazing husband but with and awful ache in my heart to leave a game that I basically grew up with, I had high hopes but unfortunately with the wokeness instilled into the game and gen Z ruining everything I no longer have any desire to renew my subscription. You're gonna find weird people on games no matter which one you play and if you're gonna let some person's glamour ruin your game mood then you might need to take a break. It's not that serious.

You've been playing this game that had the same cadence and release cycle for a long time, but this was not, in fact, the main issue. The main issue was that you forced your views and beliefs on how people should dress/act/ be in the game, and started policing others, which led to your temporary ban.

As far as the "unkind players" thing goes, there is no difference between now and in the past. If anything, they are nicer, because back in HW you were far more likely to get berated in a duty for being inefficient. With the game not being as well known back then amongst more casual players, it had more of a veteran MMO player (FF11 and WoW) vibe and they can be more toxic to people who underperform.

I'm not sure what you mean by "content being unplayed". Maybe it's because you're on Primal and a lot of people travel to Aether to do content? The RP adverts are always there and not really a problem since they are right at the bottom of the list. Most likely you see the RP adverts a lot because of people making content PFs on other data centers or due to playing during the night time.

It is fair to want to quit over the problem of people traveling to Aether for content, though, or due to repetitive or homogenized classes, or content lacking enough creativity.

One example I could give is how a "Field Operation" could have involed diving underwater and hopping onto temporary boats or submarines to to reach CEs and then make use of the sea life to create unique underwater activities, like under sea battles, catching sharks, finding treasure or exploring sunken ships for it, escaping currents or living seaweed, outracing a sea creature to get to the treasure it's guarding, etc.

They did recently acknowledge that Cosmic Exploration feels the same as any other crafting/gathering and said they have 70-80 staff working on making it "feel" fun and unique, so we'll see if that achieves anything at all soon.

I think your point about there not being lots of other MMOs out there that can make everything fresh is mainly because that's challenging. Once you've got your base combat and crafting/gathering, no matter how unique the battle mechanics, people can just throw the "but the classes work the same still" card, or say the existence of the battles themselves is "predictable" because there is "always a raid in that patch". I think the only way they can really achieve it is with the gimmicks of the content itself, such as some of the ideas I put for Field Operations.
