Can't say I get something like that from other MMO - A one-to-one talk in-game from the director saying 'Hey, thanks for sticking around - Hope to see you again next time.'
A 'cheap emotional appeal' if you call it like that, but at least a unique one.

Agreed.

From experience, most game EP/Directors have absolutely nothing to do with the playerbase of their games. The EP of the game I used to play was extremely adverse to having contact with players.
