Game crashing on launch, ffxiv_dx11.exe error

Hello, I've had this issue ever since buying the full game and reinstalling. Before I initially reinstalled, I ran the game completely fine on free trial. I was able to run it after 7.3's release, up until the re-installation.

The issue is I can't get past the character select screen. My game crashes upon reaching it with the following errors:

    ffxiv_dx11.exe+1CB4AE1
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+8B69C
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+89873
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+1BD8282
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+1BD99EF
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+1BDC575
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+5B667C
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+1E3310

I've since reinstalled the game about 6 or 7 times now with no success. I feel it'd be redundant to go over each time I did that, but I have manually deleted all FFXIV files in both Documents and my D drive, which is the install location. (I have also tried installing on C drive, which did not fix the issue). This most recent download, I've installed with my antivirus and firewalls off, no background programs open, DNS set to 4.2.2.2/4.2.2.4, computer on the whole time, and it still didn't fix the crash.

I've updated all of my graphics/game drivers. My computer is fully up to date. I've tried restoring files through the launcher twice, and have reset system settings multiple times. The game crashes on all resolution and screen settings, including full-screen, windowed, etc. I've manually set the graphics driver through NVIDIA and have also tried disabling full-screen optimization through ffxiv_dx11.exe's properties. All FFXIV folders have been excluded through my antivirus. None of these things worked.

I have also tried connecting to a different server under the NA data center, which did let me go past the character screen. After this, I switched to the main server I played on and tried to play with a character, but the game crashed during loading (which actually did end up rendering my character in-game, allowing me to move around, but offline; ultimately I had no choice but to close the game).

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I've been experiencing the same issue after patch 7.3 and was never able to log in to the world in all the DCs. I posted a bug report and got a reply from the GM Team but their suggestions (restore game data, reinstall the game and clear DirectX shader cache) did not work. I haven't found any other solutions so far

Woah, I saw your thread! It gave me some hope that this could warrant a hotfix, but it seems... uncertain... Did they ever mention if it was something they were working on, if you're able to say? :'(

A friend of a friend said they had the same issue too, but then somehow fixed it. I tried the same things they did though and had no luck, so I'm not really sure what's going on. This was what they told me, it might help you:

"• diable any and all firewalls and antivirus
    • change DNS connection to ( primary ) 4.2.2.2 ( alt ) 4.2.2.4
    • delete browser history and clear cache
    • restart
    • turn sleep settings off
    • exit out of all background apps ( browser, discord, etc )
    • launch ffxiv and start download
    • pick a god and pray

if it gives the error again try restarting and make sure the firewalls are down"

These things didn't do anything for me though, sadly; my game is still crashing. We're in the same boat friend TT

They did mention something like "to assist with the investigation by providing response", and since my original bug report has already been moved to “accepted bugs", I guess maybe they are already looking into it and just wanted to check if it's a client-side issue...but it also sounds very generic so I'm not really sure.

I don't really think changing connection and browser settings would help since it feels more like a display issue than a connection one, but I tried some of them anyway...and sadly they did not fix it . Maybe it was the praying one working XD
