Multiple monitors or just one single very large monitor?

What are your thoughts, I'm looking to upgrade my current monitor, currently sitting here with a 20" Acer..by all means its great, upgraded from a 17" Dell that came with my previous PC years ago. Its served me well, but I'd like to have more screen real estate, basically.

But I can't decide if I want to go with getting another card, so I can boost a 3x screen set up. Or.. just go out and get a much larger, perhaps 27" - 30" monitor instead.

After seeing the screenshots from GC, how the different windows all opened up infront of us, I can see the benefit in having the multiple screens to dedicate to certain menu's opening there, to leave the main screen open to whats happening in clear sight to my character. But I can also do that with a larger screen too. Just cant decide.

I love dual monitors because you can do just about anything on the 2nd monitor while playing your mmos. Information, movies, music and chat all without leaving the full screen of your game. I honestly think its a necessity in order to play efficiently.

i got dual monitors (23'x2).. 1 runs windowed ffxiv.. the other mooglebox/lodestone. ITS AWESOME

I also run dual 22" monitors. Will upgrade them at some point but two minitors is really helpful in alot of ways. I use it much like Kerwin posted. Also watch some Videos and such. Its also nice to have the Voice chat window open. You can pretty much skip an overlay then.

Really wish more Games would make some dual monitor options. Like putting some Bars and UI elements into a second "client" box without putting your main game screen off center by trying to rig it by just expanding the Horizontal

Weould love to have a few "sometimes" needed UI elements on the close side of my second monitor, so my main screen has more space for the nice looking worlds ^^

I run a 30" Dell U3011, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Except perhaps something better. I personally prefer to run games in full screen and use a program like Synergy to use a second computer for browsing.

Well, single monitor/tv = you can sit farther back... dual monitors means you have to sit closer

There are some nice monitor stands that are fully adjustable. So when close, you can pull them in, or straiten them out when farther away. I use one built for 22" monitors and its real nice being able to move them around as i like.

Ive got 2 Monitors, but i play FFXIV just on one of them.
The other is for Internet and watching movies while playing.

I could play it on my 46" LED, but for me a 22" Monitor is more than enough.
