I'm not opposed to a battlepass feature but ONLY if it's free. Do NOT introduce a paid battlepass. SE is already triple-dipping with a cash shop, subscription fee, and one-time fees for expansions.

We already have retainer subscription which is pay-to-gil basically. My friend can just be afk on PC with proper tools and amass gil just because he has more than 6+ retainers. It's basically free gil that you pay with real money.

Their introduction of battle pass would most likely be a mix of "free" with bad rewards and a paid one where you can earn a golden chocobo or something. Same thing as when they did a mount reward for twitch/tv but it was only for subscribers. So no. We pay for sub, people wanted shop for no reason, they got shop and now we have bare minimum content inside our game because most of good stuff is from shop. But community will always find a way to ruin this and seek for more.

Let's not even talk about mounts or hairstyles. Everytime people want it, it's never being asked to be introduced in a game, nah "put it in shop plz".

The absolute only way I would be okay with something similar like that would be if it is how Blue Archive does theirs.

It's accessible from Level 1, tied to progress and normal activities and they are permanent and even if a new one comes around the older are all accessible and as soon as you finish s certain amount of progress of one you get the next too, so you could have all active at the same time. All for free, no way of paying for progress, no timegates and without any FOMO while packed with rewards.

I have no faith that SE would be as generous for their paying players as BA which is a *checks notes* F2P mobile Gacha game.
And that's just embarrassing imo.

Halo Master Chief Collection does it better, as you said, it also has a system where older "seasons" will never go away but what makes it great is that as you play the game, you earn the points to unlock the things in different seasons of your choice. Each season is 100 rewards long and each tier is 10 rewards long. Think of every 10 levels as a tier within that reward structure and the game allows you to choose any reward so say for example, you unlocked the tier that starts at 20, you can choose your first reward being a number 28 reward and then 23 and and so on in any order until you complete all the rewards in that tier to move up to the next 10 rewards tier. What's the best part is that it's included with the game, no need to spend money for the reward points that are totally earned in game. I have unlocked many rewards simply playing all the Halo games within the Master Chief Collection, that collection of games is such a great value and it's coming to Playstation 5 soon too.

Absolutely not.

I was actually planning on making a post about Limited Time Events and FOMO that goes into why not all LTEs are bad even if they introduce fomo, but also that battle passes are the absolute worst kind of FOMO system because they are not engaging and only exist to keep player count high. It's a manipulation tactic and doesn't actually add content, just a chore list.
