Lord of the hive can't be completed

I started the Lord of the hive quest and a friend came on, so I wanted to wait so we could do it together. I never got any cutscenes, but now I can't finish it and my friend could. Also, there are no cutscenes in the book in my room, already googled to try and fix it since the support does nothing. Your support said they could not help and directed me here. Only played this game for a month, and I am very sad that the support do not even want to help. I bought the game and started a subscription and now I regret doing that.

Okay that sounds frustrating, but there might be a few possibilities what may have gone wrong. First, what does the Duty List (the list of quests in your Journal that displays on the side of your screen say? Does it say "speak to <insert NPC here>" or something, or does it say "Use the Duty Finder to face Ravana in Thok ast Thok (Hard)"? If it's the former, then you need to satisfy whatever requirement the journal is saying (it's possible either you've missed a step in the questline or something hasn't flagged when you did the trial, this does happen very rarely and it is frustrating as hell).

If it is is the later, then the system has not registered you as actually having completed the trial yet - again sometimes this happens if there is a network issue while doing the fight and it's annoying. All you can really do is complete the battle again and hope it works this time.

All those things you say are done. As I wrote, I stopped before I got any cutscenes to wait for my friend, and now I can't complete it. It says I have to enter the inner chamber, but I can't get in there. Because you get in there thought the cutscenes because you get captured by the gnats. I have done an in game report, but I am not hopeful. It is ok, I will just stop playing because to start from the beginning when I have worked so hard to get here feel just meh. Thank you.

So the game actually has a failsafe inplace to prevent getting stuck the way you describe. Any time you get taken to a special room like this for a cutscene, there will be an NPC outside. In the event that real life happens and you cant do the quest all in one go, that NPC will send you back inside so you can pick up where you left off. Then when the quest is done, they no longer spawn for you. Im not on the quest in question, so i cant give you their exact location but if i had to guess they are probly near 28,40 on the forelands map.

Support arent allowed to help with quest progression, so them being unable to tell you what to do isnt surprising. If the NPC for some reason isnt spawned(and logging out and back in doesnt fix it) then a GM might be able to physically move you inside. If anyone knows the actual location of the NPC, they could point it out but you should be able to find it if you look. Itll most likely either be right by that crystal at the location i provided, or at whatever spot you originally got picked up if it is far enough away.

I replayed the Heavensward MSQ just so I could find the answer for you, which took 2 hours and a half. In summary, you just go here:



Let's break down the steps of this quest:

- Surrender to the Gnath: This cutscene begins next to the gate to Thriphive (x30,y37). It takes you into an instanced area.

- Enter the inner chamber: This cutscene begins when you progress to the next room inside that instanced area. You can instead choose to leave the instanced area (Sacrificial Chamber Exit) and re-enter it later on (there is always a way out and back in). This is most likely where you are stuck. You can re-enter it at (x22.4, y37) as shown in the picture above. Just /teleport to The Dravanian Forelands, then you can press M or type /map to open the map and then zoom in with scroll wheel to see place names.



- Confront Ravana in Thok ast Thok (Hard): This requires you to queue up for the stated duty using /dutyfinder.

- Speak with Ysayle: This is self-explanatory, but if it didn't progress from the previous task after exiting for some reason (which is not normally a thing unless maybe your game crashes), it will normally progress the quest when you next enter The Dravanian Forelands or the area where you exit next to the waterfall by Lost ast Gnath (x22, y37).

Now, the enemies in Heavensward can be quite hard to defeat. I can think of no expansion in the game where the enemies were scaled to hurt so much. They are also arranged in a way where they can mob you. It can help to have unlocked the chocobo companion at Central Shroud and use the Gysahl Greens to summon it. It can fight alongside you and as you level it up, you can spec it to heal you via /companion.

When you finish most duties for the first time and exit, you get teleported to some location and then a cutscene plays. If a crash or connection issue prevents this teleport, you can trigger the cutscene manually by zoning into the correct zone or exit lobby and avoid redoing the duty.

Extra credit to Jeeq for NG+ing to get the actual coordinates. The surrender step is fairly close to where i guessed, but the re-entrance to the inner chamber was a lot further out then i would have guessed.
