It looks fine for now.I don't know about others but I started playing WoW last winter when they announced housing and I've been playing it since then. I used to be obsessed with XIV housing but I don't care anymore, I gave my solo FC house to my friend and now I only resub for big patches.
Sure, housing is not out in WoW yet but it already sounds better because of this alone: "Public Neighborhoods – These are created as needed by the game servers and anyone can buy a house in them. As they fill up, new instances are created" - If Blizz can do this, why can't SE?? Also, WoW houses will be permanent.
Let’s see what happens after a few patches (remember garrisons and farm?).
If you think WoW’s housing is better than FFXIV’s ward system, then maybe WoW is the better fit for you.
Personally, I find WoW’s storytelling too weak, and its artificially manipulated PvP balance just isn’t my taste.

My understanding on the permanance thing is only partially true. As I understand it, if you for example have a home in a 'community' or 'guild' ward, and then are removed from that guild or community, you no longer have a home in that ward. What was far less clear is if that means that you're simply no longer in that ward, but keep your home, or if you lose the home entirely and have to repurchase one. Also, if you DO need to repurchase, is it just a simple 'your stuff is all still where you left it' or do you have to collect it all back and totally redo it all? So, there is still some risks or at least unknowns in 2/3 types of housing wards. Also, unlike ffxiv which prioritizes 'all on one character' play, wow prioritizes alt play. Which is all good and such, but like what if you really love your foresaken but also your blood elf? It seems you can have a home, but at least for me, not all my characters would feel 'at home' in that home.Originally Posted by Erinellza;6737726

To your greater point though? Yes. I have LONG thought it's crap on a cracker that housing is limited/wards are limited/must maintain a sub to keep.
And while, I am sure some players who play both, will migrate their time to wow, happier with it's housing, I will also say, for as much or little as I personally might like one games housing features over anothers, it alone is not what can hold my interest long term. (Ergo why most of us wish SE didn't tell us to take breaks...and then punish us for doing so). So am I glad wow after 20+ years is giving players housing? Oh yes certainly. Am I hoping that, in the name of competition and better customer service, ffxiv fixes their broken, unfair system to one that is more player friendly? Yes. But do I think this feature alone will lose them a large % of subs to wow specifically when it is live? Not long term, no. (because wow is wow and ffxiv is ffxiv and if you prefer one over the other, you just do and one game system is unlikely to sway that preference by itself).
To be honest it's a different system.I don't know about others but I started playing WoW last winter when they announced housing and I've been playing it since then. I like being able to go to different wards and freely walk into people's plots an apartments. I like the neighborhood concept.
Would I rather give that up? And just purely have an instanced system where I can no longer just visit other plots as I please.
For me , I'd rather not give that up. I like it.

The WoW Housing you will be able to go to visit housing wards, I'm sure there will be people who private their guild/fc wards but there will be public wards as well.To be honest it's a different system.

I mean...Garrisons were garbage.
Well...consider that 8.0 would technically be a housing expansion.

I think FC's that represent more active people should in fact get more votes, as more people will benefit from having the house.
System is working as intended. FC's more deserving of a house and in a greater need that can positively benefit more people, can provide more lotto entries.
WAR don't get changes because they don't need changes. They only need more enemies to cleave.

No FC is more deserving that any other FC just cause they have more people, Those huge FC's with hundreds of people are so impersonal so why do they deserve a house more than a small family like FC, purely cause they get more people to bid.I think FC's that represent more active people should in fact get more votes, as more people will benefit from having the house.

But my question would be should choosing a plot be commital?
And if not why don't they allow us to private bidders on whatever house we choose? If the players have the money for the deposits why aren't they allowed to bid on as many houses as their funds allow?
