Error 20524

Alright, I changed the contents of game.ver file to 2011.07.20.0000. Nothing else. It worked.

I'm gettting this same error. I'm looking through the FFxiv folder though and Im not sure what I need to do exactly. Any help would be great.

You have to change the content of the game.ver file with a text editor. The content should be 2011.07.20.0000

I tried to do this with wordpad but then when I try to save it, it won't let me. any ideas?

Right click the file, properties and uncheck the write protection. That write protection is probably also the cause for the updater failing to update it.

I finally got into the game and .... the floor and walls are missing, so something is still wrong. ; ; guess i have to figure out this problem now. I wish they could get this stuff right from the start, so we dont have to go in and try and fix their mess.

Some other files in the ffxiv folder were probably also write-protected. Had a similar issue and reinstalling the game worked for me.

Where is the game.ver file so I can try changing it as I currently have the same problem of it not installing and getting the 20524 error.

It's where you installed ffxiv.
