I think the "vast vast vast majority" of players are quite capable of playing the game as it is. But there's also a decent population of older and disabled players who struggle.
Ok out of curiosity why is Disability coming up more this expansion than it ever has done in it's whole lifespan? from someone who plays with cramping hands and Ulnar nerve entrapment. Graphic upgrade aside (eye strain) every "disability" excuse seems to come out since the difficulty was raised.

Well then, i'll leave you shitting on other disabled people or hold them to your own standards, whatever works for you, that's indeed not my turf and I obviously misread what you wrote, for which I apologize.

I understand that party effects can hide the boss, and thus their tells, but that's been a problem for multiple expansions, now.
It's everywhere, one doesn't have to look far. The crescent AoEs on the last boss of Jeuno stand way too high relative to max camera zoom for literally zero reason. Even in older content like ARR shiva the circles are duplicated at a higher altitude so it gets in the way of the camera as a way to obfuscate the ones on the floor. In Hades, second phase, the boss model constantly gets in the way of the camera and blocks everything from view, notably when he extends his "arms" (this isn't the only big omnidirectional boss that has similar issues in the game).

For the rest more generally, it's as people have noted, vfx saturation whether or not it truly hides the tells, is still saturated enough to mess with people's perception and eye strain / flashbang tolerance.

Those are just badly designed visuals, period. I claim no disabilities and would still benefit from them being tweaked.

It's exactly this sort of comment why I asked for a example. Just one. I get it. People have problems with the visuals; I'm not questioning that. But if, say, I want to make a concrete suggestion (to SE), then I need a concrete example. And speaking as a developer, concrete examples and suggestions, even if they don't get at the actual, core issue, are still immensely helpful.

My current working theory is that SE, in moving away from orange puddles towards more "cinematic" encounters, has tried to make sure that animations make it blindingly obvious where the bad spots are... and, well, nailed the "blinding" more than the "obvious."

This level of difficulty in the MSQ is nothing new, it's just Endwalker was a little too easy with most of its dungeons. I still see more people dying to the bosses in The Dead Ends than I have in any Dawntrail dungeons and that was an Endwalker dungeon, yet hardly anyone complained about that. I remember having horrible experiences in Pharos Sirius when it was first released.

I rather not see the game become even more easy. I think if they were to change anything, it would be to allow Duty Support NPCs to revive you if you fall, even if it was like a 1 or 2 res limit per boss.

That's what i'm seeing. The difficulty doesnt seem any more difficult than pre Endwalker expansion. I also agree changing the Duty support would be a nice idea, but they would have to do it very carefully because if it became too easy ppl might choose that over doing it with others just for speed.

I empathize with you, heres a few tips

    1) Turn off all effects in settings. Turn on eye protection for your monior/tv to remove blue light. Turn down brightness a bit and turn contrast up a lot.

    2) Stop using duty support and start playing with real people, 99% of people wont make you feel bad and most will help you. Just tell them at start of duty you have mobility issues so will be slower. Humans are much more likely to keep the duty going if you die meaning it wont take you loads of tries. Even better now that everyone should have phoenix downs for rezzing.

    3) Most mechanics have tells before they happen, usually a good few seconds before, learn the tells and you can complete most mechanics this way. Tells can be cast names, boss movements etc.

There are people who are jealous that it takes you many attempts, I'm one of them. I like content to last and actually be challenging. Careful what you wish for. Clearing content easily for a long time will get boring af for most.

The dev team can't design the game for every minority, but I don't know why they can't add an "easy af mode" for duty support. Such as reducing damage of everything in the dungeon by half would be enough. So you can get hit many more times.

A lot of these complaints would magically be ‘solved’ if people had a VFX setting akin to the player effect ones but for arena & boss VFX. Also if they give people the ability to toggle bloom back off, which was removed in the DT graphics update – I know that’s a huge one that’s causing so many issues for people.

‘Hiding’ mechanic tells behind perpetual flashbangs isn’t difficulty, it’s fake difficulty that disproportionately affects specific people more than others – which is why some people feel no difference at all, and others feel like they’ve suddenly been dropped into the highest tier of difficulty the game has.

I only have extremely minor vision issues (that aren’t even relevant due to having up-to-date glasses), and while I occasionally get overstimulated from VFX in an array of other games, nothing has compared to the visual clusterf**k of DT – and I play GW2 with full player effects on, for comparison.

Yes that's why I excluded visual complaints because a lot of that came up with the graphical changes.

The ONLY one I can think of is M8S during the millennial decay. The twister AOEs block the view of the spinning line AOE. This is savage though.
