Something needs to be done about .X5 content cycle

I know they're trying to pad the patch lifecycle to keep players subscribed and whatnot, but I just can't even with this.

The biggest selling point of this patch was the new deep dungeon. So then why is the deep dungeon relegated to a minor patch that is 2 months ahead from the initial patch release?

For me who doesn't do EX or Savage, I did the MSQ and the new Alliance Raid and now I guess I'll just idle for 1 month until 7.31 (Not much interest personally in cosmic exploration, but the new delivery is something to do I guess!) and then idle for another month until FINALLY we get to try out the much expected Deep Dungeon.

Is it just me or does this feel just bad overall? Because 7.3 gets announced, some excitement builds up only to then be instantly let down by "oh btw, it's actually 2 months after the release" when quite a lot of the patch release hype/excitement died down and makes patches feel like they don't actually last 4 months, but rather 6 months because you constantly get reminded it's just 2 months AFTER the patch is launched.

And the issue is this is not just contained to 7.35. For me (personally) 7.4's selling point will be the new variant dungeon, which 1000% will also be part of 7.45 so 2 months after its release.

Sorry if this post is a little rambly, just wanted to let this off my chest, and hopefully hear some of your opinions (if you agree or disagree and why) on this matter
Have a lovely day, forum peeps! <3

Well some people are busy learning then farming the new extreme trial or farming the new PvP series (and yes many casual players do this and a new map was released for it). I've been doing both. A lot of people also farm hunts around this time, and many others aren't completely finished with OC or Cosmic yet. For that reason, I'm sure it's out of consideration for the people who are doing the content that they released in 7.3.

I'd say they might be learning the Unreal trial but my experience with it so far is it's a 1-pull-to-clear. If you can do the normal version of Seiryu you'll probably get through Unreal.

I really don't think SE worry too much about subscriptions. If they did, it would definitely be a lot worse, because I remember WoW did it way worse to the point people fled to this game over it back in Shadowbringers. Also, if they were doing it for subs, it's not as if it's working for them considering the dropoff since Dawntrail release.

Look up the definition of "toxic positivity," and your picture would be right next to it. You certainly have an answer and comeback for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING on here when someone is dissatisfied or complaining. You can't seem to accept folks are unhappy and you love to explain it all away and act like they are some minority and everyone else is shooting rainbows and unicorns out their ass with love for everything Yoshi P poops out on our FFXIV plate. Let people be unhappy my dude. They have every right to not enjoy the certain content cadence, just like you have every right to love it and take whatever is thrown your way.

And as a casual who has played over a decade, no we aren't farming the new extreme trial or farming the new PVP series because most of us casuals don't give a crap about those things.

My response to that is you could look up the definition of "toxic negativity".

I am just in the middle and pretty neutral. But everyone is so negative here that it makes me look extremely positive and that's pretty extraordinary.

I do, actually, and have acknowledged that people are disasstisfied in many of my posts.
you love to explain it all away
I'm not explaining it away; I am offering a counterpoint, or a point of consideration. If I don't do this, it's a one-sided debate, otherwise known as an echo chamber. Echo chambers are not good (you can look up why).

Even the Ascians value a two-sided debate which you may have observed in one of the blue sidequests in The Tempest. After their heated debate they respect eachother and thank eachother.

I like that just a small nuanced opinion or just like saying something you liked about the game sparks this fury. If you aren't in their hateful echo-chamber they have to put it into a weird toxic positivty box.

You say that but then you also say this:

That's textbook explaining it away. While I understand why you're coming from that angle, its not the dev team's job to police how players go through their content. It isn't their issue that if a person wants to engage at all of the content at once they cannot. The content is still going to be there. Its not going anywhere. They could literally release a DD along side of a new savage raid series and it would be fine provided people find either to be fun (if the DD dies off like EO did due to being boring that's a whole separate problem).

Arguments like that do not help your neutral stance and instead make you sound dismissive.

I'm tired of being told to wait for post-patches and expansions for fixes and increased healing requirements that are never coming. Healers are not fun in all forms of content like all jobs should be, they're replaced by tanks and dps due to low healing requirements and their dps kit is small for 0 reason, when in the past we had more options and handled things just fine. I refuse to play healer in roulette come DT. I refuse to heal EXs, I refuse to go into Savage, and I am boycotting Ultimate.

An actual example of toxic positivity is when a player lashes at someone for committing the cardinal sin of offering suggestions or advice to a newcomer because we must be agreat community and treat each sprout as if they had just crawled out of their cradles when they started playing the game, being condescending towards those who are new and fastidious while fastidious and disrespectful towards those who actually try to help them. Offering a counterpoint, regardless of whether it's convincing or not, is not toxic positivity. And I don't even think Jeeqbit's point is enough to excuse the current pace of content releases.

Also, quite wild that the PvP "battle pass" aka Series is now considered a hardcore player thing now. One would think doing, at most, 40 Frontline dailies in the span of >4 months (more than 120 days) would be quite time permissive.

Farming new pvp series can be done fairly easy since it lasts almost 2 patches or so. So just by doing daily frontlines (1 game) or even more slowly, you will reach full pvp series. New map is fun at start, but that's all that you get. Unreal couldn't have been easier.

SE doesn't worry about subscriptions because they know 2 things:

    - Housing keeps good amount of people, including bots;
    - ERP players are the ones to sub throughout the whole game.

Raiders and others will quit soon and re-sub when new patch comes. So they know that only 2 types of players keep this game more or less alive.

Even if they cared about sub, they wouldn't do anything about it because they follow their formula till the end. Least thing they can do is: "here, get 3 free days or return a friend".

It certainly is not just you, i can tell you that I am unhappy by the drip feed as well.

My guess would be that either they overestimate how much the contents of this patch can keep the playerbase entertained realistically (imho 1 month delay for content like that would be better), or that the devs do need those extra two months for the last bits of fine tuning.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.
