I wouldn't mind that being the case but I personally LOVE having adorable things following me around. My favorite part of being a SMN in FF11 was summoning Leviathan(he's a cutie okay?) and running around with him. Also why I loved playing Hunter in WoW. I prefer to see it as them being a partner in crime than a b***h.I imagine it being like in older FF games, the summoned primal (or it's manifestation) appears on the battlefield > does its thing > vanishes. I certainly hope that's how it's going to be, cause I'd LOATHE to see 10.000 summons running everywhere, just makes them feel less special when you have it following you like a b***h :x
As long as I have my Hydealyean version of Carby with me.. im sold![]()
sound to me that these Magicked gemstones are some type of consumables much like ffxi BST jugs.
"Terrestrial" summons were tied to the FFXI lore. Final Fantasy in general doesn't make a difference between summoned creatures.
Besides, we've already seen Bahamut in the opening, and it's skeleton rests with a wrecked airship in Mor Dhona.
That wyrm on the opening CS is NOT Bahamut. That is Midgarsorm (spelling).
And yes.. in there is is no terrestial, celestial etc.
The way I see it.l it is summons and primals....
Midgarsormr doesn't have wings and doesn't shoot energy ray from his mouth.
Did anyone/thing in the game actually gives this name ?
Edit : Ok, the official site for ARR use the name.
I don't it was intended from the start, it looks far too much Bahamut style![]()

Yeah... as far as I remember... it has always been Midgarsorm...
I agree.. I dont recall him doing that in previos games but heck.. they always change and make small modifications to their beats, etc..
Also.. it looks more like a "serpent" more "leviathan-esque" Bahamut looks more like a dragon
I'm fairly sure Yoshida said that anyone can call the Primal in your Free Company provided that you fill the bar first. Also I doubt they'd make such a big deal out of Summoners and primals (with them actually listing Garuda and Ifrit in this category) if you were able to do this only once a month.
We'll probably just call a weaker version of the primals or even a different model altogether. I'm quite sure that the Free Company summoning is a different thing and that is simply meant to be a win button when you feel like it. With this you actually call the god him/herself while Summoners simply get a weaker copy of it. Which is the official lore explanation in XI so it'd be another nod to the past.
A guard in Coerthas mentions dragons seems to worship a Primal.
Guess who ?
