new healer player facing issue

so i have just started white mage healer role few days ago . the problem i am facing is that when i dungeon i click on my tank to heal for example from party menu and then press tab to shift to an enemy target it doesnot work .is this normal ?

i thought tab clicking will make it so that it will automatically shift to a enemy target .am i doing it wrong ? i play on keyboard mouse between if that was not clear .

Edit: i think the problem was that i had auto target somehow ticked off in target settings in character menu .enabling it seems to have fixed it in dungeons.
