    Viper feels incredibly boring.

Keep in mind i started playing it yesterday and i know this might sound like blasphemy in the eyes of Viper mains, but it feels so incredibly boring and it feels like the job plays itself. It almost feels impossible to mess up on a rotation via single Target or aoe. And while the single target dmg is strong, it\\'s AOE damage on large pulls feel bad. I\\'m honestly thinking about switching to Pictomancer.

I personally wish its first, second, third, and fourth generation abilities were a flat 1.5 seconds. As that feels comfy. But to get to that, your looking at like 2817 skillspeed which means its basic combo gcds are like 1.87.

The problem with Viper is principally that it has no job design vision. It exists solely because some dev wanted "two swords anime meme guy". That's it. It has an asthetic they desired, and it ended there.

If I were to redesign it, I'd:

    * Make the DW skills faster, probably 1.5s base.
    * Make the 2H skills slower, probably 3.5s base.
    * Make the entire job debuff based ("Viper").
    * Via trait, the job loses access to Bloodbath. In its stead it has a low-healing-per-hit poison that would however be up ~100% of the time, for flavor reasons.
    * In fact, the job would use a plethora or debuffs for ~everything.
    * Chiefly, the slow 2H attacks apply a DoT each, for 6 potential DoTs total that can all stack (but three are AoE).
    * Awaken has no CD, but the energy for it only charges up when hitting DW attacks on a target with all 3 DoTs up. But it charges up kinda quick.
    * Awaken "eats" debuffs with each attack, aborting if no debuffs remain.

Assuming the debuffs all have distinct durations, the goal then is to a) feed Reawaken and b) have enough debuffs up at once when you go into it.

Personally, I find it really fun. I agree it's really easy though. In a similar way to Warrior being all about Fell Cleave, Viper is all about those fast slashes.

I'm not a fan of the viper pause.
That pause when I click Vicewinder/Vicepit and I have to wait before I can hit a Coil/Den attack.
If Vicewinder and Vicepit where abilities instead of weaponskills that pause would be gone.

Viper had a complete "wrong" hype for me.

I thought the job big fantasy would be - in a way or another - swapping between stances with their weapons (2-h / dual wield), one being slower and the other being fast paced, but in reality this aspect is as underwhelming as the damage-to-heal aspect of Sage (another mis-hyped thing imo).

Visually, the job is dynamic, but since everything looks so similar, it ends up being boring and repetitive in the long run.

It feels as they dumped all the creative juices into Pictomancer and left Viper as an afterthought, but edgy enough so the WoL could be its posterboy... Because imagine the uproar if he was a Pictomancer lol.

VPR is just derivative RPR like how SGE is just derivative SCH

Their gameplay for new jobs seems to be put a lot of effort into one then make the other an afterthought that’s a barely changed derivative of another class

As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

Yeah but with Viper everyone was so mild on it, at least the tepid implementation fits the absence of hype beforehand.

They really needed to go wild with that one, totally not what the playerbase would have expected. Ranged melee attacker, DoTs-only, face positionals, permanent pet that is invulnerable and that you have to move around to designate from which direction you'll attack, I dunno, something that's not at all unlike other jobs to elicit some excitement for a job that clearly lacks any goal or vision beyond "Lulz, some guy with two swords, ain't that awesome?!". They didn't. I mean, they never would make actually unique or interesting combat jobs, I know, but this one needed it more than anyone.

VPR lasted until 7.05. It had something to think about, but CBU3 decided it was too much and dumbed down its gameplay. The job ended up being just the closest we got to the implementation of a third party combo plugin.

It was more fun in early access before they took away noxious gnash.
