Why didn't they upgrade Shantotto's Staff?

The Hume Black Mage npc in Jeuno has what appears to be the same kind of staff as the Shantotto's Staff, so initially I got really excited that they finally upgraded the appearance for Dawntrail, but... it looks like they didn't.



Has this new staff been seen or announced anywhere else? Seems like a massive waste not to update a seriously outdated looking glamour item when the updated version is literally right there...

They had a light staff version with the first raid.



They haven't added it for us yet. Hopefully it'll be a WHM weapon. They probably forgot Shantotto's Staff exists.

Jokes aside, as a fellow Shantotto fan that glamours this staff for their raid runs, I do hope they fix this and other glamour items in the Saucer yet to be updated.

It's also a Vulcan's (fire) Staff. Why does the mage need +10 attack +10 ranged attack? Those were for rng, cor and for the rare times smn used Ifrit

At least give them one we actually used as mages like an Aquilo's (ice) staff or a Pluto's (dark) staff. Or at least upgrade Shantotto's staff to the Chatoyant Staff, which iirc is the one she uses in Dissidia. Idr what staff she used in FFXI, I know in the final fight of the Shantotto Ascension her D.Shantotto used a scythe and Shantotto had a different non-elemental staff but outside of that I don't remember her using a weapon at all.

In Dissidia she macros in the correct staff based off what element she's using, though she starts fight with a Fire Staff. During her EX attack she uses whatever element she used last for Full Swing -> Howling Fist -> Fusion. During her Manafonted Chainspell Ancient Magic spam she just uses a Dark Staff the whole time, for some reason.

Also BLMs used all of the elemental staves back in ye elden day, to swap for which element they were casting. 20 MACC and 10% damage, or 30/15 for HQ staves. Though if the guy is using it for an idle set, he should have an Earth Staff for the 20 PDT.

And in-game in FFXI, she rarely actually uses a staff, usually just going barehanded, as in WOTG, all the BLM story, and as Karababa.

Oh, I just assumed it was because fire is the main DPS magic for BLM in FFXIV.
