WoL standing there and doing nothing. No intervening when people are getting murdered in front of them, no stopping the comically Machiavellian villain when they are monologuing 2 feet in front of them, no doing anything. Just standing there. "And then the WoL stood there and watched. The end." When someone dies, they stand there and shrug. When something bad befalls their comrades, they just stare at them.

If I didn't know any better, I'd just assume the WoL has ascended to the level of a callously indifferent god, observing the behaviors of lesser beings as the only thing that can entertain them now. Except that everyone knows the most entertaining thing about 7.3 wasn't the story - it was the striking raid gloves that have spell speed, because even copy-pasting doesn't have QA anymore.

I'm honestly not surprised.

People do not read as much anymore. Writing and storytelling is increasingly devalued. It really doesn't surprise me when people slurp up these narratives like they're high art.

Oh dang. Just checked. The striking gear is just fine but the Scouting gloves do have spell speed.

Honestly, within the context of 7.x patch MSQ, this is excused because the villain himself is a memory projection, so attacking him won't do anything

Maybe the real villain was the random guy who was *clearly* going to be killed or have to run away from a fight you stumble across in the overworld, who you stop and throw a heal on and make sure they stay alive to finish what they were doing just so they not react to you even slightly and rush off to pull the next enemy of the same type that would have smeared them across the ground...

Remember when the Ananta summoned Lakshmi in the Ala Mhigan Throne Room, and not only did we not just stand around and do nothing, we actively led the counterassault while protecting people from her tempering? And then not only do we just do nothing while Tulliyolal gets attacked, we stand around and do nothing while Gulool Ja Ja gets merc'd. The gameplay and story integration have fallen off a cliff. Admittedly the 7.3 cutscenes were better, especially that last bit with Calyx - more effort was put into a single patch's cutscenes than the entire DT MSQ, but still there's massive room for improvement.

We've just been through our "343 Industries didn't realize Master Chief was the main character of Halo" moment with DT.
