Are Daily Roulettes wort it for the tome ammount?

More specifically tomestones of heliometry. Mathematics has a weekly cap so it's not effected as much.

This could just be me becoming extremely bored with doing Daily Roulettes, but I honestly feel like the tome rewards are not worth the time we spend there doing something outside or Trial and Normal Raid. Leveling is "ok-ish" if it's something fast, but often enough it's Dzamael Darkhold and you just want to cry.

And I don't mean that oh if you increase the tome ammount by 50 then it's ok, like no. I feel like I should get 250tomes from doing any of the dungeons.

This stems from the notion that doing Hunt Trains is so much more valuable. Granted Hunt trains don't happen all the time, but I would still much rather just wait for those than to do dailys.

I also don't particularly like doing Wonderous Tails due to the RNG and you leaving with not a single tome in your hand.

Ultimately the big problem is, that it can take me an entire day just to cap out on Heliometry and by the end of it I'm so god damn exhausted and the day is pretty much over and I go to sleep. This is me playing the game relatively casually, doing a single daily, taking 30minute break and doing another daily. All of a sudden you're 3hours in and you've done 3 dailys. And most people have jobs, so I can't imagine the struggle someone has who only has like 6hours to play at most.

I used to be able to cap out tomestones with relative ease cause I was still new to the game and things were super exiting, and I was really hammering daily roulette back-to-back until it was done, but now it just feels like a hurdle to get through single dungeon. It's not really burnout either cause I am super happy with doing anything else in the game except daily roulette.

I can spend an entire evening doing PvP, but guess what? You don't get tomestones from it if your favorite job to play is under lvl100. Like my Samurai is still at lvl~70 and I don't use the job for anything except PvP

I'd be happy to do more FATE farming, but no tomestones there to be seen.
Challenge logs would be a GREAT way to add some tomes into casual play. But nope, none there either.

Think of it this way, currently I need 3400 tomestones of Heliometry. By doing all dailys outside of PvP you get like 800 tomestones of heliometry. and that's if you DON'T skip Main Scenario and alliance Raid which are both atleast 1hour mental commitments depending on what you get from them. 2hours of your day just said byebye cause you got Praetorium and Dun Scaith and people kept dying or something.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how do you spend your time getting your tomestones?

I would much rather the game gave tomestones via other means as well. Like doing sidequests at lvl100 would be a great insentive for players to clear those out. Just anything to break to daily monotenous roulette spam.

I really love the concept of sidequests at max level giving something extra. WoW made a change years ago to give extra gold for doing any quest at max level; FF XIV could give tomestones and/or Bicolor Gemstones (as gil practically falls from the sky doing various content).

As for roulettes, I tend to only do Expert, Alliance, and Normal Raids (being max level on all jobs). They seem to be the best bang for your time in terms of tomestone -> time ratio. Sometimes MSQ roulette (big win at max level drawing Castrum as all the cutscenes but one have been removed and the trial is a slow). Rarely the "Level cap" roulette. Trials, unless you get an older older one (aka Stormblood or older) just take so much time for a puny amount of tomestones. Levelling be a real drag if you draw an ARR one where your job kit is sliced down to bare bones.

I never done a hunt train but yeah, seems like the vast majority of forumers say that's the way to go. Just a matter of a train being available at your playtime. Cross DC'ing making it worse as trains can just hop worlds over and deplete every server in a region.

Challenge logs would be good too. Something similar to what Cosmic Exploration does, where doing certain things gives points and finishing enough of the log would give Tomestones/Bicolor gems.

Yea, a single hunt train give ~400 tomes right now with 3 instanced areas, it's really good. Contrst that to daily roulette and it's 50% of the tomes for a fraction of the time.
As long as you play during the day you get 5-6 trains easily. It just beats out daily roulette way too easily. Especilly when as with most things people tend to skip a bunch of the "not worth it" ones as you mentioned.

While I like hunt trains, there should be something for solo content as well you can do that's worthwhile, which is why I suggested challenge logs and side quests.

Currently not farming any tomes as I finished gearing my alt jobs and main, for a few weeks now. I just do Mentor, Normal, and Trial rous when I log in during the morning. Also, I haven't done AR or MSQ for years unless it's for an event, since it's too boring.

I'm not sure if there's anything to buy with helios apart from selling the crafting mats. If you want to boost ilvl you can run the 2nd tier of normal raids, as they unlocked it a few days ago, and it gave out i740 gears.

Helio's are used for the current relic after you get done with the grindy AF DemiAtma stage. But I doubt that's what the OP is looking for as it's the same as Endwalker, 1500 a pop.

Yea I am a big crafter so I use alof off tomes on crafting materials, but also my crafted battle gear upgrade with immortal rain at the Token Exchange is something that takes ALOT of heliometry, the rain alone is 100 per piece and you need 19 rains just for the left side gear, and 10 for the right side, so thats 2900 tomes for a full set of ilvl750 gear, and if you have alt jobs it's just a ton of time spent just for tome grinding Especially if you're not doing alot of hunt trains.

I only do normal raid, trial, mentor and frontlines if I feel like it. The rest of the tomes I get with hunt trains (20 marks atm in DT so that’s 800 nuts, 200 mathematics, 400 helio and 600 poetics per train). S ranks are worth it too if congestion isn’t too bad.

I do Expert daily right now which works for me since I can cap in 5 days and it only takes 20 minutes per day. Extra nice now while one of the dungeons is new and still fun. I ended up spreading out my Historia so I still have a couple months to max out healer and caster. I almost never play the other roles unless I'm very bored so I'm fine using them with whatever dungeon/raid gear I happen to have for them.

You asked about the uncapped, but I'm fine with what I get while capping my Mathematics for the time invested. I only really use them right now for the relic weapons, and presently have 7 of them. There are probably 3 more I'd like before I don't really care if I get them or not, and I'm sure I have plenty of time with how long patches take.

I plan on adding the PVP roulette for another 50 or whatever you get since I want other rewards there.

I guess in short, I just do the roulettes that give me something I want and take the uncapped tomes as a bonus. The thought of doing content I'm not in the mood for just for uncapped tomes doesn't appeal to me at all since I have every job max level.

I certainly wish I had better sources of poetics other than weekly Masked Carnivale & Wondrous Tails, and daily Treasure Maps & Society Quests now that I avoid most roulettes.

It's going to take months at this rate to get all the poetics required to finish Heavensward relic weapons, to say nothing of the thousands that got poured into making the ARR ones before that. And yet somehow only Endwalker relics get criticized for being "tomestone weapons"... have people seriously forgotten how many you had to hoard up and spend back then? Or did the trauma from atmas, nodules, books, and light farming make people memory hole the entire experience?
