Which, granted, is only basic stuff, but how often do you see a freshly boosted tank not knowing basic stuff...
Personally, I'd agree. But I also try to give the benefit of the doubt anyway, since the context isn't always the same.

Some have recommended perseverance, which is fine, but all it does is help sour the entire dungeon experience if said experience is spent kissing the floor.
To be fair, one of the biggest things with these sorts of arguements is that there is often more time and energy spent argueing about why someone cannot do something instead of them actually trying to "git gud". There are plenty of players who literally do not even want to make an effort to try and just come here or to reddit or w/e other kinds of social media and ask for nerf or simplication of systems because they personally cannot be bothered to put in any effort whatsoever and make it seem like a large problem because they are used to getting their way via tantrums, which just brings the game down for everyone else and is embarrasing for anyone over the age of 5. Then there are players who just lack self confidence and are too scared to try, which just does not work in a social setting where there are clear expectations.

Reading your tool tips is the easiest and most basic thing one can do and ppl still do not do so. Ppl flat out ignore things about their job they learn in job quests, dnc for instance chosing a dance partner is one of the big ones. Using aoes and knowing which abilities are aoes is not difficult, yet ppl still single target on packs because they don't know which moves are aoes, which is again in the tool tip. You don't need to study these jobs like your writing a dissertation, but at least give the absolutely abundant amount of information a looksee.

The last thing ppl need to do is just try. Not trying due to anxiety or fear is a problem I notice a lot of ppl have. But if you don't just try you will never get anywhere and speaking from experience, it just makes your anxiety worse. Just say your new or trying something new and go for it. The vast majority are not going to have an issue with that, in fact less ppl will have an issue with that then you just not trying at all. I just had this in WoW earlier this year. I had never done a dungeon before, I was anxious, but I sucked it up and queued, said I was new and ended up learning a lot from the other ppl I was placed with. Now I love leveling through dungeons. You never know if you don't at least try.

And finally if you are the type who get super mad or offended at ppl offering help or giving help that wasn't laced with niceties (likely because they were typing and fighting at the same time) and dipped in sugar. Get over yourself, cause apparently you need it. That is a lesson that you need to learn at least some point of your life.

So, while some ppl make this argument in good faith, it feels more often than not, to just be an excuse, because it is for so so many of the loudest complainers.

Time to start acting like it.
This kind of comment is always so disingenuous for the very reason it conflates systems of the past with current systems and tries to compare something under a different metric than it should. It's funny mentioning that Midgardsormr moment when in reality past that specific scene, the gameplay stays exactly the same with basic AoEs to dodge that you all seem to complain about.

But I understand why a lot of newer players would come to fall into that pitfall because they just lack a point of comparison, so they use the only metric they have today: Dawntrail's systems, retroactively applied to ARR/HW, etc, with all the job pruning, powercreep and battle system purge that has happened since then. Yeah obviously older stuff looks like on training wheels today, but if my grandma had wheels she'd be a bike right?

I'd agree if most of the old content hasn't been reworked already.

That's definitely a fair point that in their new model it seems that they have taken an approach of progression in terms of complexity or difficulty yes.

FF14 is such an anti-MMO I'm not surprised the developers keep making more and more things doable with NPCs, as it seems most people genuinely hate playing with others regardless of the content.
Wild take. You sure you don't just wanna play something else, my duder? Because I never see what you're trying to sell us. Not even once.
