Dang dude if only there was a thought process that helped me think about what killed me and how can I make it not do that again.....
If only....

if they add the willful buff (the rez thing) then it would help me level up my trust npcs a lot smoother cos i wont have to focus as much or when Alisaie decides to take my safe spot and yeet me with her aoe spread lmao

Frankly even with party effects turned off I still struggle to see through all the ‘visual noise’ they’ve been throwing out this expansion.
Granted that’s as much a ’personal disability-related’ (yes I said the dirty word lol) difficulty as it is the actual presence of ‘visual noise’. But they really don’t make it much better, either lol.
I find 24-mans to be the most egregious. It’s never really a problem in 4-man and only sometimes in 8-man. I guess they thought in 24-man since there’s more people the visual effects needed to be even more intrusive lol.
Naturally I’m not saying the devs should jump straight to ‘remove it all’ and make everything visually underwhelming. But at the same time I rarely had these problems in previous expansions (iirc anyway lol) so I do wonder if it’s maybe something about how they’re doing things now.

I am in this boat as well to be honest, like the mechanics aren't too difficult, but the amount of visual bloat in this game is insane, especially when it really doesn't need to be... Their mindset with it fundamentally is just style over substance, and the problem when you take it to the degree that Square Enix does, coupled with the fact that in most cases coloring is washed out, it just makes things more difficult than they need to be, or how they are intended to be, it's their choice to go down that direction, but in many cases it has the complete opposite effect of what they are hoping I think.Frankly even with party effects turned off I still struggle to see through all the ‘visual noise’ they’ve been throwing out this expansion.

I definitely preferred ARR-SB a lot more for this alone, so you aren't really the only one that feels like it, or recalls it that way..

It's been a huge problem for me this expansion. I get that they want to show off the graphics update, but the static effects and flashing lights make it very difficult to actually see the fight, or determine which particular set of blinking lights is the important one. I'd love an option to be able to turn down the environmental effects without disabling the stuff that conveys information.Frankly even with party effects turned off I still struggle to see through all the ‘visual noise’ they’ve been throwing out this expansion.

I get the idea of wanting ever-increasing difficulty, but who or what is to say what that limit is? Take me as an example. I don't do content that I can't just queue up with randoms and do. I just don't. I don't want to min-max. I don't care about watching videos or learning fights. I just want a game to play to occupy my time with a story every now and then.
I'm not looking for a challenge and if I did it would be more of a single-player affair than a multiplayer one.
So in saying all that what do you do if the "story" mode of the game becomes too hard and alienates a player like me? I'm not saying it has yet, but it's certainly starting to skirt that line. And at that point does it deserve to die like a Wildstar before it? Focusing on one aspect of the game while ignoring the core audience. It's hard to say.
All I want is for everyone to enjoy the game.

If you design a game for everyone you will attract absolutely nobody.I get the idea of wanting ever-increasing difficulty, but who or what is to say what that limit is? Take me as an example. The question of "how hard is too hard" was answered already. TOP got lambasted for numerous reasons. One of them including being WAY too harsh, even for Ultimate standards.
Mario is designed for everyone. I can't speak on Ultimates. As a casual, it's dead content to me.
