Same communication & speculation mistakes?

If you are a fan of FF or any Square Enix game this should not be something you are unfamiliar with. Square are the worst for it but it is an industry wide problem. Developers fear us, we can be the harshest of critics. The internet is full of haters and trolls and those people always shout the loudest. I'll leave this article here which I think is very relevant to this. I know it's from Kotaku but trust me for once this is an excellent read.

While I don't agree with Gabe's article entirely, the Kotaku writer is just wrong. Gabe did point out the scale and pressure of releasing things to the press. That's something the Kotaku article didn't really take into account.

He didn't mention though that the Kotaku article's comparison to Hollywood was flat out false. Depending on the film, they are very secretive about everything. Even once the movie has been screened, (gaming's equivalent would be open beta), they still are adamant that the actors on the project are tight lipped. Just look at many of the promotional interviews with Gary Oldman for the Dark Knight Rises.

He also didn't mention industry competitors. When the game isn't released yet, you don't really want to be giving away certain things about your game that could potentially one up your competition. These things are meant for post release, but until then, it's obvious why you'd want to keep your mouth shut on certain subjects.

I don't know what that Kotaku writer was thinking with but, it sure wasn't their head.
