Same communication & speculation mistakes?

SE is giving out tons of info through interviews etc, and the gameplay presentation imo was great.. they sure let me know they are trying to improve this game..

so please explain all this secrecy.. cause your ranting about something that isn't even released yet..

We've waited a long time so more waiting isn't hard, however, they also promised a large promotional campaign to begin in middle of August (now) and they're still being reserved about things. Why wait till 2013? They can post their own videos and screenshots to the main website -- they can write their own articles.

Remember the pre-launch party? It didn't take them that long to write out their own information about FFXIV and it's future.

Like what do you guys want? a commercial that plays a million times a day?? Clearly SE knows what they are doing.. they made a big mistake with initial launch but I am sure they know where they stand this time around..

This is basic stuff they could have shown off ever since they stated they completed the 2.0 client earlier this year -- It's not promotion because even SE themselves said they wouldn't release their own videos and so on which is the exact opposite of promoting your game.

You're fine with bare minimum, that's ok -- however the general population expected a lot more given the amount of hype people were given and this isn't exactly living up to it. Remember these: "All Summer Long" and "Flood of information starting with Gamescom", so no it's doing all that they could be doing. The only mistake made with 2010's launch was releasing it way before it was done, not promoting the game.

I just want something where I don't have to get it through third party sources. All the information they're giving out is to people have have money and time enough to attend conventions (in other countries even), and as for the rest of us, they're hush-hush and only let us find out what attendees happen to record and give to the rest of us.

If it wasn't for shaky cellphone (most likely) cameras we wouldn't know about the video presentation.
If it wasn't for some guy playing around the website we wouldn't know about Summoner and Arcanist.
Then there's the beta sign up thing, some people are saying that they signed up on the EU conventions, yet SE (as far as I can remember) hasn't said anything about it.

And of course, this is only the start of their big "flood" of information, who knows what other crazy decisions will SE take.

If you are a fan of FF or any Square Enix game this should not be something you are unfamiliar with. Square are the worst for it but it is an industry wide problem. Developers fear us, we can be the harshest of critics. The internet is full of haters and trolls and those people always shout the loudest. I'll leave this article here which I think is very relevant to this. I know it's from Kotaku but trust me for once this is an excellent read.

I'm confused. Kotaku is part of the whole "OMG ENTITLED GAMERS ARE RUINING THE INDUSTRY" group, yet they're publishing an article that's asking for *more* than what the game companies are giving us? I tend to avoid giving them clicks but lol at that post.
