Unless Healer identity consists of "dead body on the floor", I'd say they should be safe. For now anyway.

Exactly! Even though we can stack 'em to 999, that super long item cooldown prevents it from being an effective substitute for a healer or even a RDM or SMN

As a tank I find this really useful. Im going to keep a few in my inventory at all times now.

1) Don't have to wipe if healer/smn/rdm are dead.
2) Some asshole tank refusing to die and solo the boss for 10mins.

Sadly it'd be difficult for tanks to use the down and hold the boss at the same time, but if it stops to cast a mech at any time, that should hopefully be enough to get a cast through!

I don't see it getting much use. Phoenix Downs are considered [medicine], which shares the same category as Tonics of Strength/Dex/Etc. While I've not used one yet, I suspect the recast timers are linked.

Unless you're potting in casual roulettes or in prog parties, I don't see how these CDs would conflict?

I've seen some people pop a few pots during the boss fights. So, it happens.
