I feel with the temperament surrounding things, Yoshi P and team are going to have to bite the bullet and do a Holiday 2026 release. Pushing to Spring 2027 won't go over well.

YoshiPR's lip service aside, they seem to firmly be in their "They will unconditionally eat slop and beg us for more" phase and just assume that players will put up with any kind of quality or schedule and just stay subbed forever. I'm not expecting anything before Q2 2027.
I will give up my house and quit then because I am not going to stick around 10-12 months with absolutely NO content happening.YoshiPR's lip service aside, they seem to firmly be in their "They will unconditionally eat slop and beg us for more" phase and just assume that players will put up with any kind of quality or schedule and just stay subbed forever. Truth be told it's responses like this that make zero sense to me. If youre that willing to drop a videogame the moment it goes silent for a bit longer, then maybe it's time to actually just move on from the game in general.
If it's not for you it's not for you. They'll still be doing moogle events and other crossover stuff during "hiatus". and if you feel like it's not enough, then just quit.
I took a 6month break from the game and it was all for the better. Now I have stuff to do.

Spoken like someone who definitely doesn't own a house.
A lot more players would gladly take a break from FFXIV if we were able to keep our house and items if we unsub for extended period of times, but then SE wouldn't be collecting its rent money from us.

Yeah WoW went through that phase, too. It damn near killed the game. Difference between Blizz and CSIII is Blizz actually pulled their heads out of their asses and started to fix their game. Yoshida is still in the "rockstar who can do no wrong" phase.YoshiPR's lip service aside, they seem to firmly be in their "They will unconditionally eat slop and beg us for more" phase and just assume that players will put up with any kind of quality or schedule and just stay subbed forever. Problem is, things just keep taking longer, and longer, and longer.... and we dont actually get better content.

Considering Dawntrail (7.0) is the most poorly reviewed FFXIV release since 1.0, the number of active players has fallen off a cliff, and the fact that Kiryu was directly questioned about it at a shareholders meeting; I think we can officially declare Yoshida-san's "rockstar who can do no wrong" "suffering from success" phase over.
8.0 is gonna be a make or break release, like 2.0
If the ball is dropped with 8.0, I'm almost 100% sure they be finding a new director and producer. I'm sure Tanaka thought he was indispensable at one point too, and look what happened there (same with Tabata, after XV failed to meet expectations, even though it was one of the highest selling SE games of all time). Yoshi-P isn't invincible.

I am ok with waiting longer than usual if it means the end product is a bit more polished and juicier for just semi-casual stuff.
If i means they can add stuff to the open world exploration aspects I'm 100% for it to take 6-8months longer to release than usual.
They should just throw the current schedule out the window and push for an 8.0 release in summer 2026. Most people are already exhausted by Dawntrail. We need that feeling that something new is finally coming, that DT is over. I can’t even imagine staying in Dawntrail for another year and a half...
If they keep dragging it out, I’m sure a lot of people will just drop off.

Funny thing is, I and a I think a lot of other people, thought Dawntrail was the perfect time for a fresh start, in terms of both story and gameplay, and it just.. was more of the same. They should just throw the current schedule out the window and push for an 8.0 release in summer 2026. Now we need a "fresh start" from the "fresh start"....
