Steam says "install folder can't be changed", but what if my SSD fails?

The question is unfortunately not a hypothetical. The SSD that I installed FF14 on is dead or close enough to it that it might as well be. I'm not sure what is the significance of Steam's notice that the install folder can't be changed, so I'm wondering if I were to simply install a new SSD in my computer and install FF14 there, would that cause issues?

Probably relevant additional information: my primary SSD, where Steam is installed - where I believe my game's local save data/profile configuration is located - is still perfectly functional.

Your save game for ffxiv is in your My Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn-Folder. You can backup the settings, acitons bars to the server via ingame.

You should move your games in steam settings via two steam librarys. just need to create a second first.

I did obtain a new SSD and set it up. Steam was aware that the game had been previously installed on a no longer detected drive, but that didn't prevent the launcher from installing, and then the launcher worked well enough (the download was interrupted twice for reasons unclear to me, but resumed where it left off) and I was able to log in and play the game without any noticeable issues.
