I really think those fireworks' sources are out of touch with reality when it comes to rare chests.

They basically mean "the RNG of the RNG"... Finding a treasure chest in the OC, or a treasure hoard in a Deep Dungeon, is already rare. Why add even a second layer of RNG to it? If they want a 'common prize' - because yeah, there's also a 3rd layer of RNG when it comes to what actually drops - just put on something useful like materia.

i'd like to see fireworks turned into a one time use collectible that lets you use that firework whenever you want with a cooldown from a toy tab

Yeah... another "copy this thing from wow" but collections really are something wow does way better and they should attempt to copy

Throughout the life span of FFXIV, players talk about not having enough bag space. What they are really saying is less that they don't have enough bag space, and more that they have issues with inventory management. They can do it, but it's not fun to do it. You spend too much time in FFXIV managing inventory, and the causes for the frequency of inventory management are bad design. Bad pity prizes are examples of things that contribute to it. To get confetti items is worse than getting nothing, because now you have the burden of having to get rid of it. I rather it be like 1 gil, because then at least I don't need throw it out later.

The worst culprit is Eureka Anemos. I rather get 10% as many lockboxes if more of them had items of value than hundreds of lockboxes with confetti or items that have no market value because you made the drop rates so high they are worthless. They just don't understand good reward systems from a psychological or user experience standpoint.
    Perfectly explained!

Interesting, it seems it's easier for the devs to create new kinds of inventory (Eureka's, Bozja's, Deep Dungeon, OC's) than to fix the main Inventory.

I'd be fine with fireworks as a consolation prize if they were the good fireworks and not that lazy "image floating above your head for a few seconds" garbage.

I look just like the roes next door... if you happen to live next door to an amusement park.

That's the nature of relational databases. It's way easier to add more tables than it is to add more columns to existing tables, from a migration standpoint.

It has a weird psychological effect since the fireworks are both bad consolation prizes we find almost everywhere, and emotes that you can only use a limited number of times. It results in no one EVER using them for their intended purpose.

... which does then create hell for everyone else as they have to go through and add entire new joins as opposed to just new columns lol. But I mean it's always going to suck for someone.

I'm all good with removing the confetti's from the loot table, fortune carrots are too rare and prices on the board are too high for it.

Also fortune carrots from other sources.

This morning we encountered a table that had a logical name for a thing we were looking for, but the table is completely empty. In every single database. I did some forensics and it's a table we added 10 years ago, decided not to use, and then never bothered to drop, because we might want to use it again.

And we are in fact finally going to use that empty table in the next major version.... so perhaps that wasn't wrong.
