A mode for old content in between min iLvl and wholly unsynced - Moderate Sync

For the backlog of content that now comes in two varieties - "brain dead" when unsynced or "still too hard" when synced - a third mode could be added that syncs a full party to 10-20 levels above the content.

This would allow friends taking along new players a better, less punishing experience than going full min iLvl (something that could take an entire lockout to teach) but also make it so that a cool fight isn't dead in 10 seconds once a level of 100s gets their hands on it.

All the rules and restrictions for unsync still apply: No tank points, no experience, no gil, etc, but it would instead count towards a new achievement under Battle for all classes for "Moderation" culminating in a title called "The Moderator." (We don't have a title like that yet, I checked.)

Alternately, it could hook into Khloe's system like Faux Hollows did, since getting enough silver points from 2 lines is incredibly frustrating. But unlike Faux Hollows, this wouldn't require someone to retool the fights every expansion, since the content is always synced down to exactly 10-20 levels above min iLvl.

(This post was inspired by watching Colin and Bethan go through Coils.... and the parties murdering the level 50 mobs in 5 seconds.)

We could also just be given the option to choose the ilvl sync manually.

A less punishing way to go through coils especially could be very fun. I did it unsynched since going through it synched takes a lot of time and effort and waiting in PF, and I just wanted the lore at that point. I do wish I could have experienced some of the mechs though, especially when watching synched runs they do seem fun! I personally plan to go back and try them synched, but I think it would be really nice to offer people a middle ground experience for certain older content. I don't know how I feel about everything getting a moderate mode but there are certainly some duties where instead of dumbing them down entirely, would benefit from something like that. That way it might be easier to keep a balance between designing content in the very hot casual vs hardcore debate?

At this point, I'd like SE to reconsider syncing as a whole when they do their supposed "8.0 job reworks".

There are some options between min iLvl and unsynced. "Unrestricted>Level Sync" lets you be the appropriate character level, but you will have the maximum iLvl allowed for that character level. You can also combine this with "Silence Echo" to either keep it at maximum iLvl or allow for additional Echo boosts in power for surviving long enough in the fight. You can even do "Minimum IL" and keep the echo on so that you start at min iLvl, but get a bit stronger over time. The sync system still has its problems, but there are quite a few levers you can pull to change the difficulty of old fights without having to be incredibly weak or insanely strong.
