Dance Dance Revolution mechanic from Hell's Kier as GATE?

Heyho,

so, when I just battled Suzaku (Unreal) with the arrow and orb transition phase mechanic, I had an idea: What about using this concept of the arrows and the orbs as some sort of GATE? The mechanic exists, it is fun and barely using it again would be a waste.

Obviously it would require some audio effect for the direction the arrow it is pointing at to make it accessible for people with visual impairments, but considering how audio signals are often used for various mechanics already, this shouldn't be a problem. (Maybe just use the regular arrow spawn sound not as general arena wide sound but located at the tip of the arrow or so?)

If you use just the arrows and orb for a single player, or make it a team effort like it's in the fight... I don't have preferences, I can see both be fun, but I could assume if a person gets e.g. less MGP or so due to another person playing less good, some people might get angry as a result. So if make it a group thing where people have to dance on all petals of the flower, make sure you don't punish people of different skill levels.

I like where your thought process is! It does seem like a missed opportunity to only use that mechanic the one time.

Both Suzaku and Dancing Green's versions of a "dance game" would work well as gates in my opinion.

Maybe Dancing Green is even for hire? Yojimbo is from optional side content and I'm sure many players now see him in the Gold Saucer before the Madnerville properly introduces him as a "new" character. So why not?

I don't know about Dancing Green specifically, it would be very much lore breaking. However, considering what we know about how the worlds work and all, why not check for his "sibling", Prancing Queen or so? I'm sure we're going to be able to find a similar person using the same mechanics closer to home.

You're right. I did forget that if you're still in Stormblood, technically Dancing Green isn't yet anywhere on the source. At least Yojimbo is "just a long boat ride" away and could more reasonably be in two places at once.

I like the reflection idea. Except Dancing Green was born inside the dome, outside the tower. So he is the from the source. Which almost opens up a more reasonable loophole - just use the unenhanced Dancing Green. If you're not in DT yet - don't worry about it - he took a boat over here to hang out in the MGS. If you're post Arcadion, well that's why he's unenhanced and over here now. But again, if you're in Stormblood, he doesn't exist yet. He went from not yet born to instantly in his 20s the moment the dome appeared. Gah.

Well, who knows how many older siblings he might have, his dad has been travelling and Viera tend to be not monogamous according to general lore.

Tbh when it comes to lore I suppose explaining Suzaku's mechanic might be more tricky if it's a special Suzaku thing, because hell freezes over before that woman would perform in a casino for mortals, let alone one a continent or two away. I suppose one could explain it with someone from Othard hearing the legends about the firebird and trying to imitate this technique...? We have Doman Mahjong, Doman Dance Dance Revolution would fit right in.

Anyway, tl;dr: Both the Hell's Kier DDR and the M5S fight would make great additions to the Gold Saucer!
