Some players use certain techniques to decorate their homes. In Japan we call them "Floating Techniques". They are not officially supported, but we have had some discussions about whether we want to support them officially. The discussions are now over, so let us think about how we can do this in the game.

Holy. And also finally explicitly confirming the Tardis housing too. I just hope the item limit is not tied to which layout you end up choosing...
That's the way it's always been. At the end of the day their alliance is to the profits and shareholders. You are the cattle. But you gotta have happy cows for the best chance at a return. But our goals do not align with the company's goals. We are playing their game for a different reason then why they created it.

Wandering back to OP's post of crazy Wishlist thoughts for a moment...
- I would LOVE to see interiors that match our exterior skins so that all doors, floors, and features are accessible! Have a Country House, then you 100% get a door to access that tree so you can get to the rooftop seating area without having to create a jump puzzle! You also get your door to the back porch and that delightful fireplace and everything else. Yeah, it would make decorating a lot harder in some respects, but it would really feel like authentically the same house inside and out.
- I would also love to see apartments or other instanced housing actually within the city-states and not just in the adventurer districts, so I can have a nice townhome within Kugane or Ul'dah or someplace directly. Something that matches the city aesthetic and gives you balconies and terraces that overlook the city as a whole.
- I would, of course, also enjoy upgrading my Island Sanctuary to have a housing plot that can be upgraded over time to a large estate. That island was our reward for ending the Final Days, and I would really like to see it grow into its potential. Especially if we can make it so that we can teleport directly there and so can others regardless of if we're online.
- And finally, I would love it if they would give us access to ALL of the decorating assets used in buildings, inns, and dungeons in game. Just across the board, we can now use every single one of those furnishings we've been drooling over for 12 years.
That translation is a little more specific than the one I saw… this sounds like they’ve already decided to implement it for sure (“the discussions are now over”), and it’s just a matter of figuring out the technical details.
I wouldn’t expect it to come with the item limit increase and interior size remodel, unless we want those to be delayed for another eternity, but to hear them say they want to do it at all is very encouraging! I can float, but it’s a pain and it would be so nice to just place things normally!

I hope the devs are listening. We need the devs to please listen.
not all of what you listed relates to the project costs some of that is just business expenses and operation costs.
for Final Fantasy XIV an CBU3 they are allocated funds in the millions or even billions but alot of it goes into advertisement and merchandise and as you said server maintenance an repairs as well as paying salaries and training or hiring new staff to the various teams does factor into that cost. so too does buying software to create new assets, but even with that said that should still leave them with enough funds leftover to provide quality improvements to existing infrastructure
lets not also forget that the mogstation/cash store proceeds supposedly go towards development costs too as stated by naoki yoshida himself unless he was lieing that is to save face an avoid bad press etc.
even so they do have passionate devs on their teams who work out things without pay as was proven with the majong minigame and headgear fits for viera/hrothgar. things that were done in the developers spare time an with good will/intention.
so its not impossible just unlikely that they'd be able to devote so much too what is consider niche sidecontent even though we'd really like them too place more urgency or thought to player housing and its systems etc.
People see $120-200 million and think it's gross profit, when realistically the profit is probably a fraction of that.I completely agree. Most people see the revenue numbers and assume SE could just throw money at housing or whatever, but running servers, paying staff, covering infrastructure, insurance, and taxes adds up fast. It’s not as simple as it looks. While it’s easy to say “oh, they make this much,” many people’s perception of business expenses is pretty warped.
My post was meant as SE as a whole... not CB3 specifically or CS3 as they're called now.not all of what you listed relates to the project costs some of that is just business expenses and operation costs.

Airships from the Workshop! Let us have them as a housing feature too.
A handful of different models and sizes that you can furnish and set them above specific maps for scenery.
