    I think it's important to recognize that SE no longer designs dungeons in FFXIV. They are boss fights punctuated by indistinguishable mobs. Basically all the raids/trials/dungeons are "boss in an arena" with some largely-irrelevant frills thrown in.

    There's nothing fun about it.

    That would be a start. Currently the corridors between bosses would be no less interesting if they could be cleared with auto-run/auto-attack.

    Unironically, just give pity resource then?

    Like, literally just give some tomes per minute per active player (divided by party size) and increased New Player Clear Bonuses after some minimum time. Still more efficient to gottagofastfastfast, but dampens the sting.


    We have to accept dungeons as an EZPZ tome method and that making things harder is just going to lead to more ragequits before the dungeon even starts.
    ...Not really; we have Hunts for that. Easier still, and more efficient.

    Tbf, people will end up calling any variance enough to make them look fully away from Netflix for more than a spurt of boss DDR as "harder".

    Really hoping it's hyperbole. Mitigating/healing/rolling DPS CDs on trash isn't much, but it's something. It should become more intense and varied, not less, or should be removed altogether in favor of some dungeons just taking outright boss arenas or including randomized puzzles if it comes down to it.


    Seriously:

    Make one new "hard(er)" roulette that rewards primarily weekly-cap tomes.

    (And, as a universal change, have overflowed tomes downgrade -- Current Tier -> Last Tier -> Poetics.)

    You only have to do some 5 of them per week, so it's not as if players who don't want to involve themselves would have to. If they just really, really want the Last Tier Tomes / Poetics, there are Hunts for that at greater efficiency.
