red mage should be able to apply buff and debuff same with healers.Right now, raising people and being the pillar that drags people through content you'd otherwise wipe on feels like the sole reason to play RDM. The class has otherwise not really evolved at all since it's introduction in SB - it's just gotten a longer final combo.
This isn't an argument against phoenix down in 4 man content, far from it... but with it, red mage needs a new raison d'être
but if both gain those red mage should have like magical debuff and the Meller could debuff and dots like the dots being the debuff.

RDM was known for 3 things* really in FFXI (at least when I played). Powerful debuffs, dispelling beneficial enemy effects, and refresh (providing others with MP regen.) While I'd love to see them incorporate powerful debuffs and/or dispelling beneficial enemy effects, I am hesitant they'd ever find a way to incorporate them without being either so weaksauce they don't really make a meaningful difference, or so overpowered that RDM becomes mandatory.
*If there was a 4th thing they were known for, it was the borderline psychotic level of difficulty involved in their class level uncap quest.
