    8.0 Max Level?

With 8.0 looming (at a snails pace) ever so closer to us, I've been wondering about the level cap. YoshiP has expressed himself previously that he's somewhat unsure about going above 100.
I'm also of the opinion that going the WoW route (going to 120 in BFA and then resetting) is not really ideal.
I've also seen the idea of mastery being mentioned a few times by people!

What would you prefer happened to our levels in the upcoming expansion? Do you want a totally new leveling system like "Mastery", would you want it to simply go to 110 and stay consistent to how it is right now, or something completely different?

Back when I played XI, the level cap was 75. There was a system put in place that allowed you to transfer earned exp into something called Merits. These let you adjust potency of your stats so that you would have an edge when it came to certain skills and abilities. It was a bit grind heavy, but it gave a reason to continue earning exp if you hit max level and had already had a nice buffer to reduce the chance of leveling down on death.

Maybe they could do something similar here?

Just my opinion. Won't lose sleep if you don't like it.

I think that we don't need to level. Proof of that can be seen in the fact we do MSQ during patches. We are doing the MSQ, yet we are not gaining levels and it's fine.

They've mentioned Skill Trees and Ability points as ideas they are thinking of, so they could do something like that where you just merely increase the power of your abilities themselves after beating certain duties.

I'm personally unbothered by the ever climbing level, but they could implement a expansion exclusive leveling system like we see in Eureka, Bozja, and the Occult Crescent if tgey wanted to try something different, or do another stat squish and retool the current levels. It feels odd that ARR has the first 50 levels while the standard in expansions is only raising it by ten levels.

I have a hunch they're going to be doing something different with levels in 8.0. Would not be surprised if we stay level 100, but we get some horizontal systems.

What I want to happen: Levelling stops at 100, and we move towards some kind of horizontal progression for each expansion, with customizable/optional job actions.

What probably will happen: Level 110, but maybe it'll be called something different. New actions will continue to be forced onto our hotbars, replacing beloved older ones.

CBU3 doesn't like straying from their formulas - even for the smallest and most inconsequential things, let alone something as central to the game as this.

I'm sure it'll be the level cap to many players who are waiting for the promised 8.0 to deliver as Mr. Yoshida and Kiyru (The CEO of Square Enix) are heavily implying to the shareholders and customers both.
If it fails to deliver, then the current level cap will be the last for many.

More directly: Personally I'd like to stop leveling upward and instead keep the horizontal progression if we must and find ways to gain spells or earn rotations through another means.

the only thing i care about is how much our skills gets stretched out over the lvls. if we get 10 more lvl but no new skills or if they just adjust the skills we learn before lvl 100 then im fine with it.

it would make lvls even more pointless but all the content in the game would be more fun

i really wish we would get our full rotation at lvl 60 or 70. that would mean we would also have more skills for lvl 50 content. sure it would need an adjestment of numbers. like a bunch of passiv skills up to lvl 100.

i never really felt that 'getting stronger' feeling anyway. not at leveling up and not by getting better gear. its all such an hussle. it feels so constructed. them moving skills around as they want all the time doesnt make it better. and then maybe a lvl squish or two.
the whole thing just doesnt feel fun. no clue why others think it is

Probably a level squish, since I can't see us going past 100 and they're not creative enough to create a horizontal system and/or any such system will be min-maxed day 1 and you'll have people catching flak for "picking wrong".

One part of me says to stop at 100 and focus on flushing out each job. I know others would be mad about not getting new skills and abilities on their favorite job.
Though I still feel like stopping at 100 to work on fixing and improving the current jobs so they're both fun and functional is a good idea on its own.
