Wouldn't a chat bubble disappear before you get chance to read a long-winded speech anyway? That's the reason I would find it pointless.I've used chat bubbles for long enough to confidently say that, at least in my own experience, two lines will result in messages being cut off more often than not, and doubly so for RP as you said. To me that defeats the whole point of the feature, which is to be able to ignore the chat window entirely and just look at who you're speaking with.
I think it will be useful for raid callouts.
I don't know what they've set as the default time before the bubbles disappear but in general for anyone who can read reasonably quickly that should only be an issue for EXTREMELY long messages which aren't that common. They are however commonly longer than two lines.

Is it that hard to make them last longer, proportional to the amount of text? Or just giving us the option to set the length at least? Why is this a problem?
Secretly had a crush on Mao
I think they said this will be disabled for combat.
As for longer messages and timing, it would be as easy as: Mouseover the player to see their last message, use your wheel to scroll through their history of messages in the zone.
I had a more wordy post set up for how I feel about those changes, but that works. Explanations can wait until after the changes are implemented I suppose, don't want to get the "just wait and see until when we have the patch notes" card pulled up on me like it's some Yu-Gi-Oh match. Will say I'm reconsidering my stance of "leaving when 8.0 does not deliver" though, to leaving now, right fast.
The rest of it? Eh. Skimmed DD stuff, looks the same when seen superficially like that. That section went on for quite a bit huh, and I do do that content. Map instance? Yay? Another one of those (personally don't do map stuff). The new CC map I'm pretty sure nobody desired. Phoenix Down being revamped? Might be the only significant thing there was there, and yet in the grand scheme of things... not so much.
Idk was there anything else besides the typical glam slides being marched out (and those pvp ones are zzz modern styled again), the usual merch-pushing drive, and that chat bubble thing? Didn't seem like it.
i heard warriors can rezz now in dungeons... can we now turn their symbol green?
without fun jobs none of the content is fun
Love the dd dungeon and the tweaks they've made for it. I think they're approaching it a new and exciting way. Hopefully it turns out the way they want it to! Having weekly challenges, different levels of rewards based on difficulty, more mb-able items, matched parties... I think this is a great step to making content that lasts a lot longer!
The change to phoenix down is also exciting because of their promise to be tweaking job identity in 8.0. Not trying to be too hopeful, but I'm cautiously optimistic that this might mean some well deserved changes to healers. Having every class being able to rezz might mean more focus on damage abilities (especially for sage!) or giving healers some more niche/different capacities when it comes to their actual healing skills. I love healing, and I really want to see some of these classes shine.
Definitely disappointing to hear about the housing, though. I imagine it isn't the easiest thing to code and implement, and I am always more willing to wait longer to make sure it doesn't break my game because of sloppy code, but I won't lie and say I'm not upset. Hopefully this rolls out by 8.0.
Overall, it wasn't perfect, but I think the DD is a good sign for how they are now approaching new content, I think some QOL changes are well-deserved and may hint at bigger changes, but others just fall flat. (I agree on the two line limit, like cmon... A littlebit more than that should be fine.) Mixed bag but better than how the last few LL's have felt. Also, can't lie, I'm still riding the high of getting to put my boy in hats!
Lots of nice QoL updates. I wasn't interested in the Deep Dungeon before but it looks like they've made a genuine effort to make it less annoying to do, so maybe this is the one I finally finish.
