    The Purify changes are going to kill Contradance

    For those who haven't followed the live letter, Purify now changes to a 4s cooldown (instead of 24), drops down to 2s instead of 3s, and will cost 2500 MP. This essentially means players will now burn MP to purify, which can allow to cleanse multiple cc effects in succession.

    To be clear I am not making this thread because I'm against the change or anything, perhaps this is actually a good idea. My actual problem with the change is that currently Contradance suffers greatly from the Purify changes brought in DT that dropped its duration from 5s to 3s, and this offers a window of exactly 1s to stun a DNC using Contradance because Purify expires more or less when the LB finishes, and during that 1s the DNC becomes extremely vulnerable to any form of crowd control.

    Getting stunned before being able to refresh the charm essentially wastes the LB. A Contradance with no charm refresh is a wasted Contradance. The more skilled players and the higher the ranks, the more players are aware of this and can freely wait for your preemptive purify to expire and immediately land their stun/silence there and you can't do anything about it. Holding Purify for once the LB finishes makes the refresh window too tight or virtually impossible due to the animation locks and delays tied to Purify, especially if there is already a crowd control effect to cleanse.

    Reducing the Purify duration is going to harm the LB further. I do understand Contradance is a very powerful LB, but only when done right. I do believe it's the hardest LB to properly pull off in pvp right now due to the crazy amount of variables and counters to watch for: 75% of other LBs hard counter it, any competent team will focus fire burst the DNC when LB is up, the LB takes ages to apply, and with the DT hit resolution changes the LB can't even be used to snag people around anymore (people can just jump/teleport away) which reduces its usefulness to only already disabled targets or big fights around the crystal.

    I understand and accept the fact that all of those counters can be part of the game even though they feel like too much already, but outright removing Purify from the picture is literally sending DNC to the dark ages of the job when Purify couldn't prevent crowd control to occur.

    Please, do something about this before the next season because it's going to be absolutely awful.

    Now you mentioned it, l feel this change also kinda nerf aqua veil and paeon's warden because of how much purify people can use

    The problem I have with this is that it now costs mp to use purify. That means less mp available for recuperate. As a warrior, i can dive in with primal rend and those affected will have to either spend mp for purify or wait out the stun.

    If anything, i feel like this will make cc abilities stronger as you are effectively draining enemy mp with every cc ability.

    Can we please wait until we see other job action adjustments before we jump the gun like this? Like the flow of a lot of things is going to change and they never share much before patch notes.

    It does seem like the purify thing would heavily benefit some already slippery classes like RPR/AST/MNK.

    Ultimately i'd be very pleased if they change something about Contra. But they haven't since DT released even though the LB's effectiveness literally relies on Purify (3s isn't enough), and it's frustrating.
    The problem is not new, and I'm not asking to change Purify, I'm asking them to adjust Contra. Perhaps extend the window to refresh charm? Do something idk.

    That's fine. I get where you're coming from. I do sincerely hope patch notes reveal a number of changes that account for the new purify, and I have nothing but dagger eyes toward WHM and BRD right now.

    How would this purify change effect contradance? You can't cleanse or remove the seduced effect, unless an ability stas it ignores draw in effects or certain abilities

    He's talking about pre-purifying before using Contradance to eliminate the counterplay of cc'ing the DNC, stopping them from extending the duration to 4 seconds.

    I'm surprised that's his concern, considering the DRK premade narratives he's shared in his other posts.
    Contradance is the critical component of the DRK premade
    New Purify would be really helpful against DRK premade
