That's a great idea! The Lodestone would be the perfect place for it! ^_^Highly agree to this!! They should do a survey after every patch, with a fixed set of simple questions and answers like "What are your impressions of (this content added in the last patch)? Liked / Neutral / Disliked / Didn't play".
Right now the playerbase is very dispersed between the forums, reddit and diverse social media, so I think a survey on the lodestone would help a lot to gather opinions from everyone.
Devolping based solely on metrics is how you get south horn.
Internal metrics lead to them thinking we value getting gil out of bunny fates, because there's 1000+ bots at all hours farming bunnies in pyros.
Or that zadnor Z3 is the playerbases favorite iteration of field operations because it's the most effecient place to level from 70-85 thus consistently highly populated.
Metrics only tell you the "what", but the "why" is just as important.

Yeah, while I like Bozja a lot, I hate how fast paced Z3 Zadnor is. But my play data shows that I've spent a lot of time there because it's simply the best way to level for a certain level range. I'd much rather OC be more slow paced like Eureka.Devolping based solely on metrics is how you get south horn.

It's kinda insane. Gacha games - the villains of the universe according to so many players, do surveys. They survey all the time. They ask how we like every little thing, even how NPC's look, how we liked this little event, how we liked *specific parts of the story,* if we interacted with certain forms of content, and why we didn't if we didn't. And if enough people are dissatisfied with something? They apologize, they change it, and they give us something as recompense. Just for not liking something. They operate on necessity of course because when people don't play their game then their game fails.......but so does FF14? idk, you'd figure the dev's would want to perform an audit on the situation and why the entire expansion has been received the way it has.
Of course, we know why they don't. It's because they already know why people are leaving, and instead of changing anything (hard, requires work), they're just going to prepare and adapt to losing most of their players (easy) and this game will just turn into another slop fest. And, ironically, gacha games will far surpass them. What a turn of events. What a way to go.

lol I just got this email today

It felt vague enough that it could apply to anybody regardless of story progress. Kinda like a generic "what do you like, what don't you like" and general satisfaction type stuff. For example in one question there were 5 categories of reasons you play the game that were like Story, Challenge, Social, Creative and Collecting or something, and it wanted you to rank them in order of how important they were to you. There were questions like "why aren't you currently playing" and "what would make you come back to the game" that had a lot of not great options but fortunately had an option to write your own answer. And there were a couple of those "if you have anything else you'd like to add" text boxes for additional comments at other points in the survey, so maybe they'll get some more direct feedback out of it.
Okay, thanks. That sounds fairly decent. It felt vague enough that it could apply to anybody regardless of story progress.
