Consumables as entry requirement: ease of entry, insta quiters, and prog liars?

I'm starting to suspect something after the Forked Tower requiring consumables, and now the coming Pilgrim's Traverse floor 100 savage/ultimate boss will also require "offerings" to get in.

Depending of course how valuable those offerings are to get, or if it's just an afterthought will definitely decide if what I'm suspecting here is right or wrong. But I'll still bite, and say that it's possible that the devs noticed that Chaotic suffered greatly from parties immediately disbanding once a single person left after each attempt at progression, and decided to add "incentives" for people to stay in the duty if they invested something to get in in the first place.

So, perhaps this is sound, but I see at least two major issues rising with this type of system and we've already had a glimpse of it with Forked Tower entry.

    1) Prog liars are going to inflame minds even more than they already are if people feel like they're "getting stuck with a prog liar". Calling it right now.

    2) Why do the devs continue to introduce restrictions to even play the damn content? If they're right in identifying that they need to make content appeal to everyone in different ways, then why do they think that asking hardcore players willing to attempt that last boss duty will be happy to go back farming the deep dungeon for more of those offerings every time their instance runs out so that they can prog more? I'm not sure those players will enjoy farming this and this will just feel like a chore to them? Just let people queue for the damn content they actually enjoy, no?

( yes I do understand that those offerings will be sold on the marketboard )

Well it's also able to be done solo, so that allows you the opportunity to practice private and scale up the difficulty as you like, then potentially progress to building up a group if you want.

Cause they are clueless and thinking that introducing hoops to get into content is the same fun as playing the content you want to be to begin with. Just look at Failed Tower in OC. Same stupid decisions.

What is doable solo? The optional boss duty?

Even if so, your reply confuses me. What does this have to do with the issue at hand? Why can't we just have sliders before getting in? There has to be design reasons behind.

Eh it's different in this case.

The unlock auto gives you enough to go in.
    It's not for a lottery.
The currency actually serves a purpose ( choosing difficulty)
It provides something on the marketboard.
You only use the currency if you win.

Alahard said it right, the currency serves a purpose this time around, to increase difficulty. IIRC it was also stated that you only lose it if you actually clear, so you are incentivized to keep trying.
The modular difficulty system is similar to Oldschool Runescape's Tomb of Amascut with its invocations.

Deep dungeons in general can be done solo if desired.

The relevance of it is that doing it solo allows you to:
    - Not have to deal with prog liars.
    - Allows you to practice alone and become good enough to not be a burden when you finally do join a party.

I do think that having a requirement to farm offerings somehow (even if it's people who sold it on the market board that did so) has a place, because an issue with deep dungeons currently is getting people to even queue at all. The weekly gating will help, but it also helps if they are given a reason to go back and do some of the previous floors to help people get through them. Being rewarded some offerings makes it not a complete waste of their time.

Also, I think you don't lose them unless you actually succeed and clear the boss.

You misunderstand. I was speaking about the optional boss, not the DD itself, thus the mentions of offerings.
I'm on the firm mind that even if farming for those offerings only becomes necessary for reclears and re-runs, pushing players to go through a totally different type of content AND difficulty level (aka a totally different player audience) in order to go about your reclears is not great design. Even though you can buy them off the MB (fortunately).

edit: I guess it's going to be a trivial issue or non issue practically. I'm probably making mountains out of nothing.
