Noticing something about the FFXIV forum complaints.

Hey everyone, isn’t it interesting that with all these people who are complaining about the game have forum creation dates prior to 2017 and have less than 25 posts on the forums? These are spam bots on the forum. Some people may have bought accounts to spam the forums. Please don’t take these posts seriously. They may have high jobs levels in game, but why are they now posting on the forums to complain?

It's entirely possible that they rarely posted because they liked the game and had few reasons to come to the forums, or just wanted to avoid forum drama unless they really needed to post something or a conversation interested them, however certain things have finally caused them to come forth and post more or complain, which they have the right to. I myself post time to time if the topic is of interest to me or I have suggestions or slight issues. Just because we don't post often, doesn't mean we're fake or non existent.

Because they are long time players like yourself. After playing for long enough and getting through a lot of the content that interests them, or running into an issue (such as the Forked Tower issues), it's rather natural they'd eventually come to the forums after building up a gradual frustration about things. A good example is that you'd trust that a lot of Quality of Life issues would get addressed over the first 10 years of the game, but then that 10 years elapses and you realize they're not ever going to be addressed or just 5 will be solved per major patch (aka 15 per year at best), which is a drop in the ocean of the issues that have built up and by the time they are solved, there will be lots of new ones.

Usually something motivated them to come to the forums again, such as a frustrating issue in the game, a YouTube video or someone linking them to the forums (such as a GM) or reporting a bug. We've had all of these recently so.

There are some alt accounts that post. Usually they are new (throwaway) accounts being used for activities that are against the rules. The main person doing that put more of their focus on other games since Dawntrail though.

I'd suggest this phenomenon is produced by long-time players who have been relatively happy with the game for years who have now reached a breaking point of dissatisfaction.

That sounds a lot more likely than some bizarre conspiracy theory involving "spam bots."

Most likely answer. The forums are only a place to critique the game, because they use this old 2000's-esque relic forum interface that is absolutely unpleasant place to keep up with any type of discussion.
