With closed and opened beta on here the only thing you were allowed to carry over was the character you designed you could save it so you didn't have to remake the char... (that was when it first came out) but everything else you lost

I have a secret to tell. From my electrical well. It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells. So the room must listen to me Filibuster vigilantly. A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
The closed beta of Firefall has done their last wipe and we get to keep our characters through open beta and beyond.
So yeah, it's been done and is being done.
Also, this beta has an unprecedented characteristic of having existing characters at the beginning of the closed beta. It's not too farfetched to ask the question here.
When all else fails, Heck the Bed.
This will be a beta to iron out the bugs, not for people to get a head-start over the people who didn't get in. Most people don't even equate beta with actually testing. For them its a chance to play the game before everyone else. It's impossible to catch every bug even if everyone was rigorously testing like they are supposed to but if people actually tested instead of treating it like early access to the game the bugs would be severely mitigated. Hell even though most will lie through their teeth I would be willing to bet that the majority are asking about beta just simply because they want to play 2.0 before anyone else.
Nothing bugs me more than people who get into beta and don't test and submit issues.
No it's not I'm curious about it myself as well. I just remember last beta for the game lol. So an answer to the question would be nice... or we could get Hildibrand to find out for us.

How is this even possible if they need a month or more to move our current characters to 2.0 retail in the first place? No sense is made.Since we now have 100% confirmation that those who are lucky enough to get access to beta will be able to play their current characters in the upcoming beta, will the progress made in the beta carry over into the retail version of FFXIV:ARR?
Would be curious to hear a dev response on this if possible.
I can understand if it was said that Legacy/Current Players are guaranteed, but I have a hard time believing that we get to use our characters.
Perhaps FFXIV 1.0 servers will shut down in Sept 1 month to Port them to 2.0 client ( October) Get to use them in the beta that is Scheduled for November. How is this even possible if they need a month or more to move our current characters to 2.0 retail in the first place? No sense is made.

Not sure really, I've heard no news on what they plan to do, but it doesn't make sense that they cannot run the 2.0 beta while running the current version. But if they plan on giving us all guaranteed access, then it does make sense. I wouldn't like to wait until Jan or longer for official release.
I would like a straight answer from the Dev's on this also.
For those asking for a link where it is said we will be able to use our curent characters in beta, here you go http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/08...relaunch-a-re/
Again, this doesn't guarantee we get a spot in the beta, and it doesn't address whether or not we will carry over anything from beta, which I also doubt.
I wouldn't expect any Beta progress to be saved. It is a Beta. Not a head start. and even those tend to only last a few days.
I think its a nice gesture that they likely want us to have the classes and equips we're used to, so we can really tell the difference. Instead of going back to lvl one and moaning about how weak we are since we're all used to lvl 50 ^^
