7.3 Hopefully the end of talking to Wuk Lamat

This is the first time in all of the years I have played FF14 I have looked forward to the .3 Patch not because I was excited for the story as I have been in the past. But to move on from that horrible character.

Here's hoping in the future we have better written and voice acted characters.

This Expansion felt like the A team went to work on FF16 and the B team gave us this mess. Hopefully going forward they can recapture the magic and move towards a brighter future.

The character is alright, they just made her overstep her role ie. scions should have said some lines instead of her, she didn't feel powerful enough to be fighting Sphene because her experience wasn't as vast as ours.

Why are we still using the FF16 excuse? FF16 was about done with development around Endwalker release or in early Endwalker, but it continues to be used as an explanation 4 years later.

Anyway, we all know SE sticks to formulas, so we can be confident that she won't be involved much from 8.0 onwards. All nation leaders end up just having cameos once in a while.

Also FF16 entered development after HW came out. The guys working on it were doing it through Stormblood and Shadowbringers too, but no one mentions that because it doesn;t fit their agenda

Don't worry, after 7.3 you'll be able to Speak with Wuk Lamat while playing Mahjong at the gold saucer for years to come.

Also, why do people cry about her voice actress? The german voice sounded not appropriate, but the english one was really fitting

I'll...let the quiet part stay quiet for the moment...while subtly hinting at it in the process...

Your first mistake is trusting Yoshida's word. Having said that, if he's not lying, then that's kind of a tacit admission the "Dawntrail Experiment" didn't go to plan. If it worked, you wouldn't have had to push the focus back onto the WoL again.

Umm...what? You mean because they would be treating Wuk Lumat the same exact way they've treated every other "guest" character in past expansions? They're always there for the main story and first couple of patches, then fade to the background while the later patches either do a separate story or start setting the stage for the next expansion. Think Aymeric, Lyse, etc.. The goalpost moving and logical gymnastics are becoming truly incredible.

They're always there for the main story and first couple of patches, then fade to the background while the later patches either do a separate story or start setting the stage for the next expansion. Think Aymeric, Lyse, etc.. The goalpost moving and logical gymnastics are becoming truly incredible.

Yeah its a strange way to frame it, it reads like they weren't paying attention to the narrative until one npc was on the screen for longer than they liked. Which I'm not even gonna say is inherently bad, if an character is disruptive in a way one does not find pleasing that's fine. But the attempt to frame the honestly rather redundant story structure of ffxiv patch cycles as a "failed experiment " reads as ill informed , desperate or honestly both

I wouldn't say that Dawntrail wasn't an experiment. For me it was.
They did try to totally overshadow the WoL narratively speaking in the MSQ, probably to see if the audience would be okay with that (and making every new expansions the story of someone that the WoL is just "witnessing").

They made a first test with Zero that was without a doubt the center of the plot of all the post-Endwalker patches, but unlike Wuk Lamat, Zero never erased the WoL that still had their moment to shine. Zero was quite well received from the beginning so they tried to go at full speed with the WoL erasure in Dawntrail.

And it backfired, badly, so they have gone backwards. Nobody will never convice me that in 7.2, Real Sphene wasn't supposed to bond with Wuk Lamat instead of the WoL, to draw a parallel with AI Sphene, and that they changed at the very last moment to make Wuk Lamat suddendly having to talk to every NPC of Solution Nine leaving Sphene and the WoL alone to discuss.

I...hope this is sarcasm. It has to be. The german VA gave a stellar performance, especially during emotional scenes. While the english one...well...
...not so much.

This being said, I also hope Wuk and everything about her will finally be gone after this patch. But as many others, I won't believe it until I see it.

Don't worry, they already said that the focus would return to the WoL with and after 7.3

The only character from Dawntrail that has the "chance" to survive the MSQ without becoming a once line of dialogues every expansion, and accompany us for what's come after, is real Sphene.
