Boosting this with my support as well, especially as someone from a country that is colonized. It’s a shame especially since the devs talked about having sensitivity reader staff. I hope this can be fixed (although unfortunately there’s still some culturally insensitive gear in the game…)

It has zero to see with colonization. There is no conquistador gear in there and the dungeon is tied to Alexandria's history. Some people want to see problems everywhere even where there are none.

Dipping in again to say I hope while the devs have historically never really cared much for the english language forums that they see the stark difference in how people expressing grievances with the gear while still proposing workforce friendly solutions versus the people shouting them down.

People of all ethnicities have pointed out politely even when they have every right to be a lot angrier what is wrong with these sets and how they can be fixed and those personally unaffected (like myself) who have come out in support have all kept our vitriol to a minimum. Yet we’re accused of being bots and drones and “looking for reasons to get offended”. Hopefully these threads are a helpful illustration for SE as to whose behavior this gear will enable in game. Ball’s in their court, I suppose.

The most frustrating aspect of this continues to be the contradiction of the promise to do better regarding cultural inspirations and how many times this issue keeps coming up.

If there is no will to remove any of the older offensive sets such as the Far Northern Attire (which was also requested by the Saami representatives themselves), perhaps it would be possible to have tighter oversight for anything new.

There is absolutely nothing offensive with the new sets. A small group of toxic and ignorant people on Bluesky created a problem out of thin air. I'm saying that as someone was born and raised in Peru, I am also 1/4 Mohawk and work as a lawyer on landclaims and IBAs in favour of indigenous people.

As said in the title the previewed armours for the 7.3 dungeon showcases armours with blatant influences comparable to the colonising forces that attacked the America\\'s centuries ago

Especially after all the fiasco\\'s with wrongly depicted cultures before you\\'d think they\\'d avoid doing this again. Most of the future sets seem fine(someone more knowledgeable than me may correct me-) but two of the sets appear to have strong influence from European armours of the 1500s? Particularly spanish and french influence which would be fine in another setting but- in a Latin American and SEA influenced context can be extremely insensitive considering the history behind those forces and what they did to those regions

Some potential alterations to the sets to lessen this invocation of historical genocides of the cultures we\\'re representing so we don\\'t accidentally put fascistic themes into our heroes\\' wardrobe. With better future consideration behind the contexts of such influences

Comparing the Garlean Empire to Gulool Ja Ja is... definitely a choice.

Anyway, throwing my hat in the ring on this too, in so much as wanting SE to listen to the people rightfully angry at this.
It's been pretty disappointing from my perspective to go from reassurances from the writing team on how they were being careful about representation to multiple instances of gear being thoughtlessly added to the game in the manner it has. Regardless of the reality, it really doesn't inspire confidence that this all seemed to evaporate the moment we got to patch content.

Dog there are H'awaiins today that still argue if King Kamehamehas unification of the islands was fully justified. As he (much smaller scale of five islands here) still had to go on a path of conquest and bloodshed as these were distinct tribes and families forced under one hegemony, under the reasoning that a singular power would be better off against colonial powers.

This is the SAME reason the Japanese imperial war machine had , as one of its many excuses, of "panasianism" to be a "anti colonial" force to unify East and SE Asia (under Japan, who gets to be too dog) against the west post WWI. This is a reason people HATED higan absorbing the very mongol Inspired tribes under the fold, that idea of any sort of pan asianism from jp dev runs people the wrong way, even if the in game people were more Chinese inspired.

That's the issue with empire, with monarchy and cultural hegemony. When you have pan-whatever grand cultures it's always at the expense of the many with "one" on top , it was greatly a historical for a precontact inspired society, one significantly based on both the Mexica empire and the Incas to not be one drought with border desputes and cultural erasure.

Any imperial is bad, all of it. Because it enforces a cultural hegemony that supercedes smaller cultural identities as a point.

I think it’s kind of rude that you keep minimizing and invalidating the accounts of other people who say they are bothered by the set and have for the most part been very polite and constructive in pointing out why and what can be done to fix it.

Instead of continuously replying to posts in here just to pull rank and say “nuh-uh”, maybe you should try lending other latam people who /are/ bothered a little bit of solidarity instead of the multimillion dollar company?
