    Some people say you must interact with something inside your home such as your retainers or a FC chest and then it'll reset the auto demolition since some horror stories have people losing their homes because they only stepped foot inside and didn't interact with anything. Logging in also doesn't reset it, you must step foot inside it, not the yard but inside the structure itself and then interact with anything like your FC chest or retainers to be safe.
