consider that WoW is ugly and FFXIV has, well, final fantasy. like i know the migratory MMO fandom is in the room with us but. yeah no shit we'd be playing a better MMO if this wasnt literally a final fantasy game and/or because cat girls

Midcore is when you take a look at an Ultimate, nod along sagely to a guide and decide to do it when you get 12 months of uninterrupted vacation, which is to say: never.
Forum doomers exist everywhere and you cant please everyone but ill counter with this. Story this last patch was shit on the ptr and it was flamed. What did blizzard do? Fixed it for live release and its actually pretty good. m+ was absolute garbage in season 1 that required you to have the gear from the content it dropped to be able to reliably clear. What did blizzard do? They rescaled the entirety of m+ for season 2 and its actually really well received with their announcements for season 3 met with the excitement of the majority of the community. The only people really complaining now are the ones upset the vault drop mythic piece is no longer tied to one of the hardest scales so their parses are more competitive. Another one you didn't mention is healers. Healers in season 1 were underpowered for the incoming damage and the majority of the player base was upset. So this season healers feel good and can reliably heal content. Now in contrast what did xiv do when asked about the forked tower debacle? Bandaids and its too expensive to fix. While wows not perfect and it has its issue i'd argue the grass is greener over there on merit of tangible evidence of improvement. Going from shadowlands where we didn't have talent trees or class expression, character bound grinds, and content designed only to keep players logged in as long as possible to where we are now is an amazing improvement.I quit WoW years ago, and I will rather stop playing MMOs than to return to that sh*tshow. That's just me, of course.
But if you really think the grass is greener over there, check out their forums. Complaints over complaints over complaints. Lead dev is incompetent, story is garbage, setting sucks, mythic+ is the worst thing ever invented, and so on. Sounds familiar?

Pretty much. Shadowlands was absolute garbage and desrved to have the playerbase cleave that it did. Bobby Kodek was a horrible game lead and deserved to get canned. I'm just glad the wow community isn't going on a crusade against xiv players trying out their game like what we experienced here, egged on by one of the major xiv streamers. Never have I seen such hate to warrant doxxing over trying out a game before.

WoW actually fixed their game and made it better, that's why it has the amount of players it has today (Which btw is far more than FFXIV's considering the absolute skydive in player population)
SE could never, they'd rather see the game die (again) than to improve it, which is sad really.
I love both games, but FFXIV has gone completely stale, the recipe has been used a million times and it's just getting really old.
I play WoW too on and off, but mostly Classic. I really don't like current retail. The gameplay loop is way too fast, sweaty even. There are like a million different systems at max level, weird Trinkets and rings, some legendary item that you need to farm and upgrade and gimmicks like that. I last played reatail seriously in Shadowlands, and when I returned in TWW I felt like I was playing a new game, so many different new systems, WoW really hates evergreen features. I also don't like the community, nobody ever greets. I hate and love things about bpth games.
If XIV could take the best things from WoW and build it into the game, this would be my forever MMO.
I only have tried World of Warcraft once many years ago when i bought World of Warcraft pack that came with main game and 4 first expansion when either Warlords of Draenor or Legion was the newest expansion but i simply didn't like World of Warcraft due to enemies having very short respawn time and not having ability to outrun enemies that pretty much made impossible to move from point A to point B while doing main quests and i simply quit playing the game when it was not fun being forced to fight enemies constantly.
I don't know how things are now in World of Warcraft when it seems they have removed all other expansions and The War Within is only expansion available now when i checked my battle net account moment ago.
The rest are free (with your sub). The latest expansion is also typically highly discounted towards its last major patch and generally comes with a free month (so, may effectively be as little as $5).
...So, pretty much the standard.

Games like Pokémon and Prison Architect aren’t visually stunning either, but they still offer brilliant gameplay and creativity
Graphics aren’t the be-all and end-all for me when it comes to games. One of my favourite ways to relax before bed is playing RimWorld, and it’s far from visually impressive. What it lacks in looks, it more than makes up for in depth and atmosphere.

If you think WoW is better you're sleeping on a active nuclear reactor.
And I don't really care how bad the state of FF14 gets I'd rather cut my head off with nail clippers than play Modern WoW. Or pay for their Classic to prop up a version of the Game I hate.

what a great argument as to why/how FFXIV is better than wow lmao
"i dont like the game so you better not like it too, it sucks i tell you, how dare you have fun somewhere else ? You will keep doing your roulettes and get earrings from mogtome events and you will like it !"
