Something I found interesting about the recent interview with Yoshi-P

In patch 7.4 the progression of the story will not be so fast, but you will see a faster acceleration in patch 7.5. And for patch 7.5 the plot has already been finished and we have started the voice recording, the voice acting, and it will be different to Dawntrail. So I do hope that players will look forward to it. Rather than there being a focus on Tural itself, there will be more exploration about the Ninth Reflection.
The translation isn't perfect, but it seems to me that .4 and .5 will be moving us toward exploring the Ninth, I was thinking maybe we'll have a mini-zone similar to the red moon in 6.4, but this time it will be somewhere on the Ninth.
Also, I wonder if this will directly lead into 8.0 being in another reflection, or if this will be a plot thread that will be further explored in 9.0+, while we tend some other more pressing matters for 8.0, possibly in Meracydia. What do you guys think?
I allready wonders:
The dragon continent is supposed to be around the same place, as australia is in or world. And F14 take inspiration of the same areas of or world.
But, what has Australia to give, aside of thousands of the deadliest animals ever.
To be honest, Id rather have a proper "garlemald" Expansion, dealing with the Nagxia, Hingashi and Dalmasca following the collapse of the empire. It would give them space to really build towards the next expansion, without it being a massive jump.
In terms of Scions, i think we should take less scions and perhaps Yshtola, Thancred and Urianger should be benched for a while. With krile, Graha, and the others joining but not all at the same time.
Id love for them to bring other characters like Jullus, Nabriales nd others into a journey with WOL so we can buiild out the WOL trvaelling Companions.
Meracydia has some Australian fauna but most signs are pointing it to be more like Africa.
From what little we know of it, there are references to Ancient Egypt, it's the original home of hippos, and there are references to Ethiopian, Congolese, and West African culture as well.
Speaking as an Australian, there is an angle to essentially doing a 'pre-colonization Australia/Africa' mashup, the cultures, climates and histories are close enough to have some viable parallels for storytelling purposes. (Also, hippos are an Australian animal in spirit, they've got the right vibe of 'the hell kinda landscape made THAT'.)Meracydia has some Australian fauna but most signs are pointing it to be more like Africa.

If you really wanted to dig into real-life culture to link some things, there's also a fun hook there in the form of the Gosford Glyphs. Which are a hoax in real life, but hey, so was El Dorado.
The Blindfrost is still a place we need to explore, and if 8.0 will have a tank, Viking from FFIII could be that tank. Of course, the south and Meracydia will eventually be here, but I'm actually more interested in seeing the North. The areas of frost and ice, in the areas surrounding Garlemald as an 8.0 expansion. We haven't had an "ice" expansion yet, and now would be a good time to do it, with talks about the 5th Calamity, which was the ice apocalypse.
Heavensward? The whole color scheme was blue and silver, the first zone and the main city everyone spent time in are covered in ice and snow, the login screen had snow.
Blindfrost just isn’t compelling to me and I don’t think it can carry anything beyond a V&C dungeon about that Khagan’s treasure. It’s a frozen wasteland that’s sparsely populated by Xaela, there’s no notion that a city even exists up there, and I feel like it would just be a retread of Azim Steppe but colder. I’d also prefer an expansion that actually clears away the cloud cover and gives us more information about Ilsabard and eventually Meracydia.
Vikings would be Aerslaent in the other side of the world from Blindfrost. I think that kind of eats into warrior’s berserker image anyhow.
I still think Meracydia is going to be the finale of FFXIV. As in, the series finale. There are so many story hooks that we've gotten that are all linked to that region, and the joke the Australia and Africa, to a certain extent, is just Earth (Extreme) and everyone and everything is over level 150 and that's the normal feels too good to use asap.
Conversely, the devs may choose to close out all of that to move on the new things sooner than later.
I hope the 9th isn't just more FFIX at home if we do go to explore it.
Viking might be our great hammer job. It IS a classic, if rare, job in some older games, but it's the most tank of tank jobs in that's it's main gimmick is drawing attacks in FFIII, but they're also tricksters with some thief-like skills and lightning magic in their Tactics version. The relic would absolutely be Mjolnir.Heavensward? Oh my god that's our next tank.
