Gold Saucer Teleports Should Be Free

It's strange how if you go to a starting city-state and use the airship, the cost of the Gold Saucer airship ride is free.

But the teleport to get there isn't.

Gold Saucer does not advance the MSQ, side quests, or general gameplay beyond the Make it Rain campaign. It's design to simply be a place for people to play games and to be able to relax when they have nothing better to do. (Or procrastination. Guilty.)

With that said, the game should offer that extra level of accessibility to get to the Gold Saucer without needing to make it a Home Point or Free Destination.

I understand the gil used in every other zone (housing is arguable, but whatever), but I just can't wrap my head around Gold Saucer's fee if the airship is free. Isn't the whole lore behind it that someone is collecting your gil at the aetheryte? Why collect the gil if you're offering free airship transportation?

With so many people saying there's not much in the game to do, it'd make sense for the developers to just allow anyone to teleport there for free as a place to relax.

You get a free teleport location if use the mobile app for 2FA. Set your free teleport to your home nation. Problem solved.

Free Teleport is for the Daily Tribal Quests

The request still remains, it just doesn't make sense that we don't have free teleports to non-MSQ content.

Because Godbert owns the Gold Saucer. Godbert is on the Ul'dah Syndicate. The Ul'dah Syndicate funded the reconstruction of the aetheryte network and get kickbacks from it's operation. Thus, it's a nice little gravy train for Godbert.

Gameplay wise though it's probably just the old "you pay for the convinence" thing.

The Mandevilles are filthy rich. How do you stay rich? By not giving free teleports on the network you helped build.

Edit: the only other way I could see them adding a free type of teleport is if they added a way to teleport to MGS from the Uld main aetheryte

I always take airships from Limsa or Uldah or Gridania. They are free. Back to Uldah is free, too.

Every game needs a gold sink. Teleports are one of this games sinks. I think it should have a fee.

I think this is the last place that needs a free teleport. You've got airships and entering the battlehall via duty finder.

You can get aetheryte tickets for free transport anywhere you want with centurio and allied seals from Stormblood, HW and ARR Hunt as well as Masked Carnivale. Just doing the 3 weekly B bosses gives me more than enough tickets (300 seals, each ticket costs 5).

If you join the Flames GC you can also get tickets to port you to Uldah (just turn in dungeon gear and use the currency yo buy tickets and the Gold Saucer transport is really cheap from there.
