Allow Party Finder Queueing While Participating in Other Content

Hi there,

I'd like to suggest a quality-of-life improvement for the Party Finder system.

Currently, if you're listed in a Party Finder group and waiting for others to join, you're locked out of participating in most other duties or content with friends. This can lead to a lot of idle time, especially when waiting for rare roles to join or when trying to fill a learning/prog party.

It would be great if players could remain listed in PF while doing other activities.

This would let us make better use of our time in-game while still being available in PF.

I understand there might be technical limitations or design concerns (like locking players mid-duty), but even just allowing PF queueing while doing non-instanced content or in small parties would already be a huge improvement.

This wont work, and its not really a limitation thing, but the moment you open a PF you open a Group, so how will this work, you cant be part of 2 groups at the same time, i actually really dont see any way how this would work

Do you mean I join a party finder group where one person is midway through a roulette, and by the time they finish another person has started their own roulette?

in any game that is impossible without well crashing the game that's why solo instances take you out of all que.

I would like to add an imaginary party list that is like a waiting for prog party. So it would not break the game. Its only so that you know if you have enough people to start a full party.

It can work if you make 1 party "unactive" and only for grouping up. Imagine a list that fills that dont interract with the duty finder. You create the party when the unactive party list is full. Then you can go into a "real" party while you wait for the list to fill.

Make it a temporary linkshell, allowing communication between all members even across instances. I don't know if this is realistic, but conceptually it should work. Though I can also see this creating problems as the party leader gets to shift the wait time to the other party members. I can't imaging joining a full PF only to be told to wait 30 minutes for a duty to finish would be fun. Even if this is technically possible, it may not be the best idea.

If the overworld had more content the leader might have more to do while waiting, so this could be looked at as a dull overworld issue, at least indirectly.

The main problem I see is how non committal that is. If im making a pf for content its because im there to accomplish a goal with 7 other people who are like minded. The last thing I want is someone who forces 7 other people to wait on them because they needed to min max their time so hard they feel no qualms with inconveniencing 7 other people. While waiting for a pf theres so much you could be doing to prep for the group content. Look over the mechs again. Make sure your gears repaired and you got your consumes, organize with your co healer or co tank in dms about what you want to do when. Theres also the thing of what happens if you fill and you're in another duty. Do you just tell them sorry guys your duty doesn't matter as much as my other duty? That would completely ruin the social aspect of the game and just make duty finder an absolute cesspool of willingly leaving people high and dry and the anger it would cause. Like it would actually kill the game in its entirety.

I understand that this can cause problems. Maby it could be a list with a deadline time of start so anyone that joins agree when to not do other activities? Its just that waiting for 1-3 hours for Savage/ultimate prog party to fill is a bit boring. Would be nice to be able to at least do 1 expert roulette while waiting for party to fill.
