This is really interesting thanks for sharing. I think Albert would've been a lot better than Ardbert I always thought that name was weird and they were just picking a weird fantasy name for the game. The name of the character that English-speaking players know as "Ardbert" is mistranslated.
His name in Japanese is アルバート (Arubāto), which is "Albert" written in Katakana.
In Heavenward, his English name is misspelled as "Arbert" which seems to be a misinterpretation of "ル" as an R rather than an L. (ル can be an R or L in English depending on the context, but in this case it's pretty obviously supposed to be an L)
In Shadowbringers his name is changed to "Ardbert", and one of his lines of dialogue is replaced with a retroactive justification for the change in the English version. This is strange because the new name is even less correct than before, as not only is the ル still wrong but there's now a D that came from nowhere.
It's been this way for several years, but hopefully it can still be corrected (:
Arguments rarely sway the views of either people involved, but they change the minds of bystanders all the time.
Now un-subbed, pointless playing, paying and getting nothing out of it.
