Look at BG3 as well, they did crossplay + mods. The only thing worth mentioning is that, because of the lack of Script Extender, the mods that can function on Consoles are much more limited, but you can still have a lot of awesome mods.

Also, I find it very annoying when people associate mods with cheating by default when the vast majority of mods have nothing to do with cheating but are more oriented towards QOL and customization of your own character.

Imagine having a mod that offers additional dyes, or specific clothes/fashion with additional dye channel enabled/reworked, or slightly modified to better work with other pieces, or to show hair style/ ears better.

As for making a new MMO, and to address the original poster, no. They can still salvage this game. They do have a solid base and starting point, but years of neglect is starting to show.
