Time to kill off FF14 and start a new FF MMO

With all the issues of the current FF14, do you guys think it’s better for Square Enix to stop the release at 7.x and instead start a new FF MMO, which will have

- a new director and producer
- all races can wear hats
- playable on mobile, ps, xbox, pc, mac, steam and switch2
- jobs with identity
- high tier raids that rewards real player skill
- glam system and housing like WOW
- adoption of third party plug-ins
- make the game free to play with cash shop for nice-to-haves like fantasia, glam and emotes
- free to transfer between servers which will be mainly chat rooms and make all dungeons instanced
- development system where every registered player can place votes on what they want in future release, with votes allocated based on dollar spent.
- old content are regularly trimmed with new releases so as to prevent content bloat

one that is properly programmed without 'spaghetti-code'? oh yes pls.

but that would be a terrible business decision. it would cost a lot and on the other side the unhappy people who are only here because of emotional attachements or their houses would be gone.

and people wouldnt forgive a bad story so easily as in arr xD
all ff14 seems to be able to do is reuse old ff stuff. either from other games or built up stuff from previous expansions

new team? do they even have people for that? as far as i know they dont hire a lot of people who cant speak japanese

a proper glam system and achievements. two systems that can give a lot of stuff to do for completionists if done right. both is terrible in ff14

All "modern" mmo's are a failure, the new generation of game devs lack the adventerous imagination to create a true MMORPG.

Keep in mind the greatest MMORPG we ever had, (classic wow) was merely an accident, because the game devs were oldschool and experimented a lot, they often ahd no idea what they were doing, there were no streamlined systems, they just put all kind of random stuff into the game because they thought it was fun or cool instead of looking at class balance.

Suggesting a free to play MMO, is ridiculous, these games cost hundres of millions to make and run, a subscription model is the only way to have these things running and keep some integrity

Beside that, it would be incredibly easy. Congratulation, you got Theatrhythm Online with 16bits graphics, a housing hub and sprite glam.

Having the game free to play would not help, I remember when Swtor went free to play and well that did more damage than good for it

1. It would make no business sense to stop service on an extremely valuable asset with 20 years of development (yes, FFXIV 1.0 started development in 2005 and its lore and assets were heavily salvaged for 2.0).

2. It would make no business sense to stop service on a game with this many subscribers and regularly-returning players.

3. They didn't even stop FF11 and they'd sooner do that then stop FF14.

4. They could do all the things you listed without making a new MMO and doing that would make far more business sense.

5. Trimming old content doesn't make business sense because it's literally taking away content. People already complain about a "lack of content", and that would increase those complaints.

not a hot take, i think having the game running on consoles & PC is eally holding back its potential, the clunky UI elements that have to work for controllers for example.

I would say that imho the problem is not the dev team itself or the producer. It’s the company.
I’m not here to defend anyone but as history has told, Square begun its downfall when it was merged with Enix.
Imho a new MMO made by SQENIX would have the exact same issues as this one have now.

And I don’t not entirely agree with the fact modern MMO are failure.
There are some, one in particulate, the same age of XIV, free to play, space ninjas… which is particularly surprisingly good.
Not for its original gameplay or modes or story or community or whatever.
No. It’s good for its development team.
They have an official discord also for community meeting.
