"surprised" by literally the same recipe over and over again, very excitingI hated having the public test realms in WoW and other games because people can't keep their mouths shut and everything is always known before the patch. Even worse now with datamining.
SE does need to work on their community feedback, but I hope we don't see public test servers here. It's nice being able to be surprised.
I am finding it discriminating that there is rewards on some of them twitch streams that is only available to a few countries in for an instance in Europe.
I find it a complete loss and neglecting of the community and giving people equal possibilities for getting special items that may not be possible to be claimed otherwise.
I think SE has totally lost the connection with the community and more so actually making content that works for all and not just the 1% or less.
I agree with you. The surprise box method was good when the game was expected to be good because I'd rather not get spoilered by a PTR, leaks, or content creators talking about every upcoming details.Probably boils down to cultural differences. The whole "surprise box" release of everything. It only works if the goodwill and trust are there.
They arent now. So I think they should start releasing roadmaps and clear layouts of what their 1-2 year plans are.
But at the same time I believe, we will only be getting PR jargon and "please look forward to it". And roundabout communication while Yoshi P marks up prices for merch by 200 dollars just because it has the FF-logo on it.
Dooming? Yes. They havent given me any reason not to since Endwalker which was a mess
Nowadays, it's a must to build trust and goodwill again because the quality isn't there anymore.
We're not talking about rewards and special items here, we're talking about listening to player feedback and responding to it. I don't need another mount/minion/earring, i need communication and i need change.I am finding it discriminating that there is rewards on some of them twitch streams that is only available to a few countries in for an instance in Europe.

This! I think that if players are shown some more behind the scenes or WiP stuff in early stages they give the much important feedback earlier. Like, they can talk about some of the new abilities they're currently thinking of. What do they try to achieve with certain changes, what has worked, what has not etc. It would go a long way to start building trust again.
It has everything to do with communication, or you would not have this trainwreck of a DT expansion and the content in it, only favoring the top 1% Elite. This! Yoshi P still does walkthroughs with the community streams but lately seems its only been locked to JP servers and not EU or NA. He confirmed he watches twitch streams for ultimate and savages and sometimes PvP, but beyond that, actually interacting with western streamers and content creators like Zepla and Meoni who advocate for better casual gameplay, so far I've seen no indication that he has done so.
...most of the viewers of the LLs he does are English speaking, and the western crowd has been asking for a translator for the LLs for a long time now. He has to know this, but is either incapable of making that happen, or he simply doesn't care. Why then should he be bothered to watch western content creators when clearly the western community doesn't matter? If SE's (or Yoshi's) goal is to alienate everyone except the Japanese who play the game, he/they sure are doing a good job.
When the leaders of your community have stripped you of all you've ever worked for to cover up lies. When they've slandered your name until your business collapses leaving you to figure out how the hell to put food on the table. When your leaders label you as a possible terrorist because you stood up for your rights and didn't let some stuck up tyrant in a suit tell you that you're property. The weight is mounting on top of the ladder, when bottom falls out so will the fear and then there will be nothing left to do but burn corpo shit and let them rot in what they have created.
It's not just streams; a lot of SE employees watch YouTube generally including from Japan.
The only interaction clearly seems to be to send marketing material and things like that. There is interaction at Fanfests or if they interview him though, which is common during the media tour. Pretty sure Meoni has interviewed him a bunch of times and often gets in a few interesting questions.actually interacting with western streamers and content creators like Zepla and Meoni who advocate for better casual gameplay, so far I've seen no indication that he has done so.
Are you certain of that and have some clear data on it? I always see the chats flooded with Japanese chatters, with English struggling to argue between it.most of the viewers of the LLs he does are English speaking
It would be ideal if it happened during the LL, but I should point out in case anyone is unaware, that they do a delayed translation of LLs and that the key slides are translated: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forums/644the western crowd has been asking for a translator for the LLs for a long time now
Your "Top 1% shtick" is annoying and incorrect. It's estimated that 10%-25% of players engage with raiding in some form, so just because you are in the bottom 1% doesn't mean you have to project your skill on to everyone.
I did some careful maths a while ago that showed it was over 30% outside Japan and over 50% in Japan. This remained similar whether as a percentage of people that cleared normal raids, or as a percentage of people who simply reached level 100, and were active. It was even similar trying to do it via collect websites - you just have to get the raw number of players with savage rewards (or achievements) and get that as a percentage of the raw numbers with normal rewards (or achievements). And that's just who cleared the entire tier sometime within the ~8 months of the tier, not who engaged with it and cleared just M1S or M5S or just Extremes, which is likely even higher. The lowest clear rate I saw in the last tier was 11% on Kraken.
If we're objective, it's not for 1% of players. But that doesn't mean the non-raid content shouldn't be good, both for players that don't want to be doing raids that involve too much coordination or static building, and for between raiding where you might want to relax and do things like CEs in OC that don't require that degree of coordination.
