    Cannoneer. Dragon Quest X has a "Pirate" vocation that summons Cannons that it uses to do its skills which I feel is something that can work in XIV. The firing line of a Cannon in DQX is pretty wide and forgiving and since this game loves its similar circular boss arenas they would be perfectly viable. Probably would be problem with how XIV hates gimmicks on its jobs or "pets" so it'll never happen but I dream of a day when they'll be unique again and we'll have fun new ways to play.

    The job I enjoyed most was Oracle, but it’s probably too close to AST to be its own job. But I also really enjoyed Geomancer, which I didn’t think I would. Still have Chemist & Berserker left after I finish Samurai.

    Frankly, a lot of PJ actions are giving me “Why are you not in the main game?”-feels, because of how inoffensive & safe they are. They could very well distribute these phantom actions across the main job’s arsenals tbh. I.e. give Geomancer’s bell buffs to WHM so they finally get something to do. Give AST Oracle’s Predict. Let SGE have something that’s akin to Ph.Monk’s Phantom Kick. Silver Cannon-like GCD for SCH but 5s debuff duration… and many more.

    Chemist IMHO is an insult.

    Take a look of what “Mix” command was capable of in other series, and the most they could think of are… 5s Benediction, 5s Manadiction , and trap Elixir? Really? Worse, the defining raid in the content are yelling at healers: “Look, we’re going to take away your raise in this place… but you can have it back by consuming your one only PJ slot to get it back lol.. with Chemist!!”

    Aesthetically I'd want Geomancer cause I liked the flourish for the 2 bell ringing animations it had. However I have no hopes for anything creative on actual job mechanics.

    I wouldn't like a Phantom Job crossing over, but some Phantom Jobs actions could be part of some existing jobs.
    For example, Predict and AST are a match made in heaven.

    Unfortunately they mentioned they tried Chemist, its apparently what became Sage. And to be honest i wouldnt even remotely consider phantom Chemist to be a good iteration of a Chemist job either really...

    As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

    I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

    If they "tried" Chemist and it became Sage because they couldn't reasonably make a [Mix] and [Stash] (non-consuming items,i.e. normal actions) action set, then no offense they either were:

    1.) Playing it way too safe with job design like usual
    2.) Are too stubborn to accept a version of Chemist that isnt functionally similar to non-XIV variants of the job (hello Blue Mage)
    3.) Are unironically lacking the creativity to design the job - which blows my mind considering how one could pick parts of past FF titles and even Bravely/Octopath titles and check for any item based job there.

    NIN has mudras, which are essentially Mix but for Ninja. PCT proves you can have long gcd casts not doing damage as long as the resulting potencies after are good enough. And if you want oGCD mix, once again old Mudras, but could make it so you prep the steps like with buffs.

    [Editor's Note]
    - [Stash] is a command series in FF 10-2 for the coresponding Chemist job that allows the player to use items at no cost to their actual arsenal, but had long cast times rather than instant + it wouldn't interact with passives that boosted regular items
    Here some Mix things to consider:

    [Effect] Curing reagent, harming reagent, debilitating reagent, boosting reagent (they dont share CD)

    [Range] Condensing solution (single target), scattering solution (AOE circle), volatile solution (line / cone AOE)

    [Duration] Dilute (weaker, but long lasting), Capsule (triggers after some time after ingestion), "Syringe" (instant application)

    [Extra] Purify (simple effect, strong with no extras), <something for bonus effects>


    I just scribbled this down in like 10min. As for Stash, imagine having your Cure II equivalent be Stashed Hi-Potion (MP cost included), Raise is Stashed Phoenix Down, Medica is Stashed Mega potion etc. Hell you can make mix just modify stash actions too. So if I hear "we tried" like no offense you didnt try hard enough.
